From "having started, and indeed there are the dharmas of giving" to "it should be recognized as the giving of the wise." "Not having and not possessing" means not having and not possessing the dharma that can be given. Starting from "pure intention" to "obtaining inexhaustible enjoyment in all lifetimes," similarly, when he closely gives the dharma giving, he does not give to those seeking opportunities, starting from the dharma giving, to "it should be recognized as the giving of the wise," and "relying on each correct understanding, all dharmas of giving, material and fearlessness giving, starting from, to fully understanding as it is," this refers to. Relying on superior intention means, starting from "for beings who harm," to "practicing equanimity among friends and relatives." Approaching giving means, even if there are obstacles to giving. "Starting from the antidote to the obstacles of giving," to "this last antidote wisdom can completely hold the fruit of merit." Relying on giving with faith through superior intention refers to the inner nature. Starting from "going to a solitary place," to "this is a Bodhisattva with great wisdom, relying on giving." Difficult giving, in short, has three reasons: the giving of joy itself, or attachment to oneself, or attachment to the object of giving, or not having been accustomed to giving in other previous lives. Among them, Bodhisattva harming oneself means, even from a small object of giving, dividing and giving, like this making oneself accustomed. Accepting suffering means, even if there is little that can be given, giving all of it, like this oneself accepting suffering. For "lovely objects," there are three reasons that make the object that can be given, which is called sentient beings, become lovely: in other lives

Having affection, or having truly familiarized oneself for a long time with the visible Dharma, or even without those, mostly doing benefit. Because of being the best of non-sentient objects, firm clinging will arise. How is it the best? It is said: Because of being without fault, and because of being supremely excellent, having removed manifest attachment to those two kinds of objects, one gives. The term "accomplished with great desire" means that because one has not been accustomed to giving before, it is accomplished with great effort. The meaning of the summary of giving through all means is fourfold: what is giving, to whom is giving, where and by whom is giving done, that is, having prayed to oneself or to others, one encourages. Among these, how is it to oneself? It is that one obtains in accordance with the Dharma without being encouraged by others. The term "father and mother" and so forth refers to those who have a relationship and who desire to do benefit. The meaning of the summary of the five kinds of giving of a noble person is that the very act of giving is said to be perfect, the accomplisher is perfect, and the object of giving is perfect. "Faith" means the very mind without impurity, which is the perfection of the act of giving. The one who gives completely becomes perfect in cause, that is, the one who gives completely makes the recipient happy in mind by showing respect. The term "one's own hand" means that such a complete giving is giving without being self-satisfied. Giving completely at the right time is completely holding with desired objects. The statement "without harming others" indicates the perfection of the superior object, that is, those that are shown to be pure in the scriptures. The meaning of the summary of all kinds of giving is that the meaning of the section of the sutra is explained by giving without relying, and so forth, that is, giving liberation, and stretching out one's hand well, and rejoicing in seeing the excellent, and rejoicing in excellent offerings, and the perfection of giving, and rejoicing in giving shares. It should be known that giving without relying and so forth should be connected in order with those who do not expect different results. The term "perfection of giving" means in a vessel.

It is giving. What is called distribution is giving to those who are not vessels. These explain the qualities of the patron whose giving is perfect in what way. Now, as far as giving in all ways can be perfected, the four kinds of giving, such as universal giving, are all distinctions of giving itself. What is called giving to the poor and desirous, in reality, poverty is poverty. Whoever is actually poor is poor and desirous, and the poor and desirous themselves are the poor and desirous. Giving to them is giving to the poor and desirous. What causes poverty and desire? Because of food and so on. Giving to the poor and desirous in eight ways is a brief explanation of the meaning. Those who are born with a body want these things, but worldly people do not want other things, so in terms of the body there are five: wanting to avert the suffering of being born together, wanting the means to benefit the body, wanting not to arise the suffering of behavior, wanting the means to benefit the body, and wanting to protect against harm to the body. Among them, for those who want to benefit by averting the suffering of being born together, those who are poor and desirous of food and drink, give food and drink and so on. In order to eliminate the suffering of the body walking, give riding as a gift. There are also four kinds of means that benefit the body: means to cover secret places, means for daily use, various utensils used near food, various means such as bedding, and means of fragrance, garlands, anointing, and bathing. Those who want these things but cannot get them and are afflicted, give them these means. Those who want to completely avoid the suffering of cold, warmth, wind, heat, and rain, and those who want to see with their eyes, and those who want to eliminate the unequal suffering of harm, give them shelter and light. Those who use their eyes
