If it disintegrates, there is no birth, etc., that is its definition. Here, if disintegration becomes something else, it will become the fault of not obtaining, which is not acceptable. The agent of the other party is only one, and it disintegrates here, because it is permanent, so it is controlled by others, because it is not an agent, because it is eaten, so it will encounter the fault of not doing. For those who constantly establish the name of agent, etc., there is no fault. Different from the aggregates means that it is not mixed with the aggregates, but exists separately, and is close to using the aggregates. If you ask, isn't it only sentient beings who are accepted as unconditioned phenomena? Because they do not perform the actions and agents of conditioned phenomena, and close use, etc., there is no fault in this. If you say, if there are no aggregates, then, the meaning of no aggregates is because there are no aggregates to be used closely. Therefore, it is not always afflicted, and it is not related to the body, so it cannot be called self, this is because it is not related to the body. If seeing, etc., is the self, then seeing, etc., will become the seer, because there is no difference from the self's seeing, etc., so it cannot become the seer, this is because if there is only one seer, what is the use of the second? If it is said to be karma, then it is also like a seed, therefore it will become permanent, which is not acceptable, etc. These four metaphors are because of the difference between production, change, basis, and no obstruction. Some are producers, some are not producers but become producers, some do neither, but birth and change do a little bit of outward tilting and holding, etc., some do none of the three, but abide in not creating obstacles, only these kinds, therefore four kinds are mentioned. If it is said to be an agent, then, if it is like an axe, etc., then just as an axe, etc., performs actions such as cutting others, because other different seeing, etc., cannot be determined from seeing, etc., it is not acceptable.

To know how to judge an action is different from an axe, just as focusing on work is different from the act of "seeing," which does not have such a characteristic, because it is the very essence of the action itself. Similarly, it also becomes the essence of the actor, so it is different. If it were like fire, then clinging to self would become meaningless, which is not permissible. Just as fire, even without a burner, burns by itself. The difference between the two examples of the axe and fire is that one depends on the actor when repeatedly performing all actions, while the other is not so. If it is different from the characteristics of the viewer, etc., then it is not permissible to call something that does not possess all measures as "self," because the characteristic of not possessing all measures means that there is no inference from the result. One can also say this: Does that which possesses the characteristic of entering, both enter and exit, or does that which does not possess that characteristic become so? If one wishes it to be so, then why not mention the characteristic of exiting? Some say that the very disappearance from entering is itself exiting. Others say that at the end of the phrase "also exit," because it has been stated, everything will change. If that which possesses the characteristic becomes so, then one should note the five characteristics of entering formations. Like this, although the characteristic of entering is not established in that way for others, it should still be determined through argumentation. Although there is no enterer other than the aggregates, some formations will enter, just as because they possess a cause, and up to the point of change, famous things like the body and sprouts are similar examples. The dissimilar dharma is the horn of a donkey, or other acts of entering. That is to say, one should note the formations of the body, sprouts, rivers, butter lamps, actions, and the continuity of riding. Therefore, even without a self, the actions themselves enter and exit, which is not permissible.
