It is for the purpose of explaining the combination of these. So, from the ground arising from hearing, what is yoga? That is fourfold, such as "faith, etc.," as mentioned. Or, the method itself is called yoga. Or, it is the non-corresponding formations, which are also four kinds of reasoning. These two appear from the section on explaining the non-corresponding parts in the Compendium of Determinations. Or, it is for the sake of true accomplishment, as it is said in the verses of the meaning of those with intentions: "By what yoga are those trainings accomplished?" etc. Or, the distinctions of worldly, transcendental, combination, uninterrupted, liberation, distinction, small, medium, and great paths are called yoga. From the ground arising from hearing, what is yoga? That is ninefold, as it is widely spoken of. In short, it is called the yoga of antidote, such as from the ground arising from meditation, it is said: "What is the meditation of antidote, that is regarded as yoga meditation," etc., which is the common yoga of the Hearers. The yoga of the Bodhisattvas is the non-abiding Nirvana, which is related to the distinction of wisdom and compassion, which is the uncommon yoga. Or, because of possessing the immovability of the two, the wisdom gathered by the ground is called yoga. Or, it is for the sake of skillful means, and it is called yoga because it is the reason. Or, it is for the sake of individually examining dependent origination, such as in the sutra called "Chapter of the Source of the Treasure of Qualities," when asked, "How is yoga practiced?" etc., and widely explaining dependent origination, etc. Or, it is for the sake of the absence of inherent existence of both complete defilement and complete purification, because it is for the purpose of combining them. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Great Brahma: "The dharma of the yoga practitioner neither arises nor ceases, nor does he desire any dharma to be accomplished, nor does he desire to realize it," and so on. Among them, the yoga practice of complete defilement without inherent existence is dharma.

One does not truly see any arising or ceasing. To practice yoga that is completely purified and without inherent existence is because one does not desire to attain any dharma, nor does one desire to realize it. Or, the completely pure Suchness is called yoga. As it is said in the Sutra of the Descent into Lanka: "Without abandoning the correct search, when there is no appearance, the grasped and the grasper, liberation and bondage, are not seen. At that time, the yoga enters into equipoise, and I will appear, without doubt." As it is said. Or, to contemplate emptiness is called yoga. As it is said in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra: "Shariputra, the great yoga of the Bodhisattva is this, that is, the yoga of emptiness. Shariputra, the Bodhisattva who practices emptiness will not fall into the Hearer's ground, and will even transform to purify the Buddha-field." As it is said. Or, the Noble Perfection of Wisdom itself is the supreme of yoga. That is, among all the yogas of the Bodhisattva Shariputra, the yoga of the Perfection of Wisdom is the most excellent. It is called the principal and the unequal and the intermediate between equality. Why is that? Shariputra, because this yoga of the Perfection of Wisdom is unsurpassed. As it is said. Or, it refers to the non-conceptual samadhi that is gathered by it. As it is said in the Teaching that Pervades: "The Perfection of Wisdom itself is yoga, and meditating on it is meditating on yoga." As it is said. If the very word yoga can encompass all the scriptures, what need is there to mention the "Stages of Yoga Practice"? That alone is sufficient. Among them, practice refers to the teaching. The order of hearing and thinking, etc., that corresponds to these practices is discipline, such as the order of practice, etc. Yogis refer to noble Hearers, etc., and should be combined as appropriate. They consider it to be like a line of horses.

It is the place of going. This is not available to outsiders from this. Or, the Yogacharyas, relying on this, increase and manifest their own Dharma that they have cultivated, like crops, that is their land. Or, the practice of wisdom, which is summarized in the middle as mentioned above, manifests, which is in accordance with the place of generation, like the earth, so it is the earth. Or, the Yogacharyas practice on this earth and experience the enjoyment of their own Dharma, like the land of a cow, that is their land. Or, the Yogacharyas are the Tathagatas, because they practice yoga such as non-abiding Nirvana and the wisdom of equality. Their place, in every way, is the sphere of non-proliferation, which is the land of the Yogacharyas. The treatise that obtains it is also called that, like the Abhidharma. Or, the teachings that show the state of the yogi are also called the earth, like the ten grounds, the direction is like that. Each ground has many meanings, seeing that establishing the ground will become an infinite fault, so it is said "in short". The establishment of the grounds is: what is the nature, and how does it enter? What is its state and order there, and what is obtained? Finally, where is its destination? Two and three and four, three and three, three and two, the collection of these grounds has been completely shown. There, the nature of the aggregates of consciousness and its retinue, when sentient beings enter into the aspects of conceptualization, etc., in the state of samadhi, etc., through the order of hearing, thinking, and meditation, any of the three bodhi is attained. There are two places to go to attain bodhi: the state of Nirvana with remainder and Nirvana without remainder. In another way, starting from entering, summarizing all dharmas, and distinguishing it in detail, showing its state, this is shown in order by the two grounds, the three grounds, and the four grounds. Similarly, starting from returning, the three grounds
