If it is said that without consciousness, one cannot abandon death, then how does consciousness cause the heat to dissipate from the upper or lower part of the body when abandoning death in this way? And it is impossible for the consciousness of mind not to arise at the time of abandonment. Therefore, it is only by separating from the alaya-consciousness, which takes the body, that the body's heat dissipates, and the body appears to be without sensation, but not by separating from the consciousness of mind, so it is not possible. In summary: object and co-occurring association, one cause is one, entering with simultaneous objects, and returning from all afflictions. In short, the entering of alaya-consciousness is established in four ways, and the returning is established in one way, which should be understood. Like this: entering is established by object, entering is established by co-occurring association, entering is established by one cause being one, and entering is established by simultaneous objects. Entering is established by these four ways, and returning is established by returning from all afflictions, which should be understood. So, what is entering established by object? In short, alaya-consciousness enters with two objects: the inner taking consciousness and the outer vessel world consciousness that is not completely severed. Among them, the inner taking is the habitual tendencies of attachment to the manifested nature of imputation, as well as the form of the support and faculties. This is also in the form realm. In the formless realm, it is only taking habitual tendencies. Among them, the outer vessel world consciousness that is not completely severed is the alaya-consciousness relying on that which is the object of inner taking, constantly and continuously knowing the continuum of the world and the vessel world. Just like, for example, a burning butter lamp, the continuum of the wick and oil enters internally, and externally it produces light, so for the inner taking object and the outer object, it should also be viewed in the same way as the principle of alaya-consciousness. That object is also by the wise people of the world

Because it is difficult to completely cut off, it is a net. The object of focus is always present; sometimes it changes, and sometimes it does not. However, relying on the first moment of taking, it enters with the single taste of consciousness until the end of life. The alaya-consciousness should be regarded as momentary in its object, because it enters through the stream of momentary continuity, not as a single entity. The alaya-consciousness in the desire realm should be described as having a small object. In the form realm, it has a large object. In the formless realm, in the sphere of infinite space and the sphere of infinite consciousness, it has an immeasurable object. In the sphere of nothingness, it has a subtle object. In the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, it should be regarded as having a very subtle object. Thus, by distinguishing between two kinds of objects, distinguishing subtlety, distinguishing similarity, distinguishing momentariness, distinguishing small objects, distinguishing large objects, distinguishing immeasurable objects, distinguishing subtle objects, and distinguishing very subtle objects, one should also understand the establishment of the alaya-consciousness entering through objects. What, then, is the establishment of entering through association? Here, the alaya-consciousness, by association, is associated with the mind and the five ever-present mental factors: attention, contact, feeling, perception, and intention. These dharmas are also included in the category of fully ripened results, and because they are difficult for even worldly wise people to understand, they are subtle and constantly enter into association with a single object. Among these mental factors, the feeling that is associated with the alaya-consciousness is exclusively neither suffering nor happiness, and is indeterminate. Similarly, the other mental factors are also like this.
