it will increase and expand. What is the food for the obscuration of malice? It is anger, and there is also the cause of anger, which is to improperly focus on them and cultivate them extensively. Among them, that which is always tormented in the mind due to harm is anger. That harm itself, being associated with improper attention, is the cause of anger, such as the nine things that cause all suffering. What is not food? It is love, and to properly focus on it and cultivate it extensively. That is, the characteristic of accomplishing the happiness of others, gathered by the power of meditation, and the power of individually examining what is gathered by subduing all suffering things, is not food, and the Sutra also says that it can eliminate the obscuration of malice. What is the food for the obscuration of dullness and sleep? It is darkness, and to improperly focus on it and cultivate it extensively. What is not food? It is light, and to properly focus on it and cultivate it extensively. Among them, there are three types of light: that which is the antidote to darkness, the light of Dharma, and the light of the body. Among them, that which is the antidote to darkness is the thought at night, such as the moon and stars, etc., the thought during the day, such as the sun, and the thought of both, such as the light of fire and jewels, etc. Among them, the light of Dharma is like this: here, some people hold, think, and touch the Dharma, and contemplate these distinctions, or meditate on the recollection of the Buddha, etc. Among them, the light of the body is like this: for example, those sentient beings who emit light from themselves. Among them, the opposite of the first light should be known as three types of darkness, such as the darkness of night, the darkness of clouds, and the darkness of Dharma robes, such as caves, etc. The opposite of the light of Dharma is the collection of three darknesses, such as not knowing those Dharmas as they truly are, hesitating and doubting in the past, future, and present, and towards the Buddha and Dharma, etc.

and also wavering and doubting. Among them, what is ignorance and what is doubt? These two are called the collection of darkness. The opposing factors of distinct realization from realization are: dullness and the darkness of sleep. Therefore, the Dharma will not become clear. What are the foods for the obscurations of excitement and regret? Thoughts about relatives, etc., also exist, and past laughter and play, etc., will also be remembered, and these are improperly attended to and increased. Therefore, relying on the prosperity, decline, meeting, or separation of relatives, thoughts and discriminations of the mind with aspects of joy and aspects of displeasure will arise. For objects as well, similarly, relying on wealth, etc., thoughts arise about objects, extensively as before. What is not thinking about death? Relying on youth or old age, bad actions or correct actions, thoughts of the mind with aspects of joy and aspects of displeasure arise, extensively as before. What is called laughter is like some people showing their teeth and laughing by relying on fighting or gossiping, or pushing and laughing from the heart, etc. What is called play is like playing with dice or wood, or playing with jewels, or anything else similar to that. What is called joy is the joy of enjoyment of mutually intimate behavior, or the joy of enjoying objects closely, or the joy of abiding produced by dwelling together, staying, and speaking, etc. What is called enjoying pleasure is like grasping from the hand, or grasping from the shoulder, or grasping from the waist, or any part that becomes a limb, completely caressing and completely fondling, as well as embracing, kissing, and looking, and other actions of enjoying pleasure similar to that. What is non-food? There is also calm abiding, and it is improperly attended to and increased. What is called calm abiding is the mind abiding without distraction, and the dharmas of the aspect of calm abiding. Anything that causes weariness, such as one's own decline, the decline of others, one's own prosperity, the prosperity of others,
