This is what is called "manifestation." Among them, the sixteen characteristics are: from "without attachment" to "without regression, and not being robbed by discrimination and delusion," combining the six perfections with the six grounds, the six characteristics are shown. From "not being moved by other vehicles" to "for the supreme teacher," there are six characteristics, so there are twelve characteristics in total. From "accumulating all merits" to "playing with supernormal powers," combining the four perfections with the four grounds, the four characteristics are shown, so there are sixteen characteristics in total. The first meaning of "not without desire" is: to manifest in order to accomplish the perfections. Abiding above all, is the treasure of qualities. The words that the Buddha's sons should know refer to showing what the result of accomplishing the six perfections is. The so-called "constantly not separated from the intention to accomplish the perfections" means: on each ground, there is faith and desire to accomplish the ten perfections, and it is not without. The so-called "each of the six perfections is separated from its opposite," among them, the opposite of the perfection of generosity is attachment, which is not present in the first ground. The opposite of the perfection of ethics is the mind of harming, which is not present in the second ground. The opposite of the perfection of patience is anger, which is not present in the third ground. The opposite of the perfection of diligence is laziness, which is not present in the fourth ground. The opposite of the perfection of meditation is the mind of harm and damage, which is not present in the fifth ground. The opposite of the perfection of wisdom is the mind of regression, that is, discrimination and delusion, which is not present in the sixth ground. The so-called "not being moved by other vehicles" means: not dedicating all the accumulated merits to the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles, and not remembering the Dharma of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, that is, not being moved by other vehicles. The so-called "not being attached to the happiness of prosperity" means: not being attached to the enjoyment of the wheel-turning king and others. Decline and hardship

Regarding not turning back from the suffering of engaging in diligent conduct: Decline refers to being separated from enjoyments, etc., and dying. Difficult conduct refers to giving up one's head, hands, and feet, etc. When engaging for the benefit of oneself and others, even if the suffering of decline and the suffering of difficult conduct arise, one does not abandon the activity of engaging for the benefit of oneself and others, hence it is called non-retrogression. Regarding being born in a place of bliss: By the power of the aspiration paramita, being born in the place where the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas reside is called being born in a place of bliss. Regarding that it is not mixed with the Dharma of opposing factors: The opposing factors of the six paramitas are stinginess and evil conduct, etc. One who possesses the power paramita constantly performs only virtuous deeds and does not perform even a little of the Dharma that is contrary to the six paramitas, hence it is called constantly performing virtuous deeds.
