The characteristics of the boundary have been fully shown. Among them, if a Bodhisattva completely deviates from the nature of emptiness, then he will also completely deviate from all the Mahayana. The so-called "all the Mahayana" refers to the eighteen emptinesses and so on mentioned in the previously cited source, the Sutra of the Noble Wisdom of the Perfection of Wisdom, which are called the Mahayana. The "complete deviation" mentioned here is also as stated in the Yogacarabhumi-sastra: "How does a Bodhisattva completely deviate from the Mahayana? For example, if a Bodhisattva hears of the profundity of all dharmas and their lack of inherent existence, he naturally assumes that the plague of afflictions has disappeared, and he thinks that he does not have the serious illness of samsara. Just as a person infected with the plague, thinking that he is free from disease, will not be liberated from the plague but will instead worsen, so too should the Bodhisattva be regarded." Furthermore, the Yogacarabhumi-sastra also states that clinging to imputation, slander, and misunderstanding emptiness are called complete deviation. Therefore, that treatise states that two kinds of people will completely deviate from the Buddha's teachings and the Vinaya: one is clinging to and being manifestly attached to the non-existent nature of the words imputing forms and other dharmas and objects; the other is slandering and destroying the truly existent object of inexpressible self-nature, which is the basis of imputation and the support of imputation, by saying that it does not exist in any way. From "destroying" to "misunderstanding emptiness" is called complete deviation. It should be understood as extensively shown in that treatise. Therefore, listen well, and I will briefly explain the nature of emptiness to you. This is the third, encouraging listening and indicating that it will be explained. Son of good family, the nature of other-powered and the perfectly established
