Bye'o. This is like, revealing the self-nature of the categories of Dharma, revealing the self-nature of oneself and the presence or absence of images, revealing the differences of mind by distinguishing accumulations, and distinguishing the sameness and difference of sounds. Among them, revealing the self-nature of the categories of Dharma also has two ways: outsiders and others. Although there are many treatises of outsiders, here are temporarily revealed four kinds: the Samkhya school believes that the suchness of sound is self-nature; the Vaisheshika school believes that the merit of sound is self-nature; the Lokayata school believes that the four great elements are self-nature, because everything is composed of the four great elements. Those who claim sound believe that sound is self-nature, because in the rational treatise it is said that sound is constant, so it becomes a definite measure, because it can express all dharmas. So it is said. If this Dharma is combined with the treatises, the explanations of each are also different. The Sarvastivadins believe that, in short, there are only seventy-five kinds of Dharma, and the meaning is as previously stated. The self-nature of the teachings is also divided into two kinds of explanations in treatises such as the *Samuccaya*, the *Abhidharmakosha*, and the *Mahavibhasha*. Some people believe that the Dharma-skandha of the Tathagata has the form-skandha as its self-nature, because it is sound. Others believe that it is the samskara-skandha, because it is name, sentence, and word. Therefore, the teachers in this place have three different explanations for understanding. Some people think that sound is the true meaning, because sound is good, but the collection of name, sentence, and word is not what is said in the sutras. Therefore, in the *Samuccaya*, it is said that the Sutra Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka, and the Matrika are the true Dharma of conventional truth, and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are the ultimate truth. In the explanation of this treatise, it is said that the so-called true Dharma of conventional truth refers to the Dharma expressed in words. Others believe that name and so on are the true meaning.

It is desired thus, in order to express the meaning to be taught. Therefore, in the treatise "Generating Wisdom," it says, "What is the nature of the twelve divisions of scripture?" It is said, "The collection of names, the collection of words, and the collection of letters, abiding in order." From there to the extensive explanation. Some consider sound and name, etc., to be the nature, because the power of sound reveals two kinds of meanings. Here, if combined with the new translation of the "Abhidharmakosha," both of these statements are mentioned, that is, "sound or name, etc." There is no other statement. In the "Nyaya Sutra," the statements of these two teachers are also mentioned as being consistent with what appears in the "Abhidharmakosha," because there are also questions and answers. Therefore, from that treatise itself, are the name of speech and the teaching different? Or are they also considered to be the teaching? If name and teaching are different in nature, then how is the teaching a name? From there it is said that because of the power of name, it is first called teaching, therefore, the nature of the Tathagata's teaching is name, why? Because it expresses the meaning as it is. Name is the Tathagata's teaching. Because the teaching expresses the meaning of the name, the teaching is the name, therefore, the Tathagata's teaching is necessarily characterized by name, because the name is mainly mentioned, so the collection of words and letters should also be understood as included. Furthermore, in the treatise "Extensive Explanation," what is said in the "Nyaya Sutra" also appears to be consistent. From the explanations of the teachers who are skilled in the three pitakas, the explanations transmitted through the teachers of the Indian region also show this, that is, the "Abhidharmakosha" and thus the "Nyaya Sutra" also explain separately in two ways, and each has its own purpose. Why? Because sound is supreme for generating the delight of beings, and name, etc., are powerful for expressing the Dharma. Although the reliance is different, each has a definite meaning. Therefore, both explanations are correct.
