The place of going should be understood. If one practices the ten virtuous paths of action for countless eons, but generates the desire to become an Arhat or a Pratyekabuddha, then at that time, the discipline will have faults and the discipline will be broken. Generating Bodhicitta is even heavier than falling into defeat. Thus it is said. This is mainly for the benefit of others, not to prevent one's own benefit. What arises from meditation is called the root of virtue of unsurpassed wisdom. Unsurpassed wisdom is all-knowing, knowing all things included in the conventional truth, and all things included in the ultimate truth, surpassing the Shravakas and others. It arises from meditating on the emptiness of the nature of all dharmas and illusion. When the practice of these reaches its peak, all elaborations, that is, no self-nature becomes extremely clear, and in the manner of not seeing anything, all dharmas become the object of self-nature emptiness as it is, and the meaning of illusion, like the sky, all dharmas included in cause and effect, like placing an Emblica fruit in the palm of the hand, manifest from the removal of obscuring stains. Therefore, the teacher Shantideva also said: The obscurations of afflictions and knowledge, emptiness is the antidote to them, wanting to quickly attain all-knowing, why do you not meditate on emptiness. Thus it is said that meditating on emptiness is the cause of all-knowing wisdom. Therefore, all that arises from generosity, discipline, and meditation should be dedicated. How to dedicate? The way of dedication is "collecting and concentrating" and so on. Gathering all these into one with wisdom is superior to others. Among them, collecting and concentrating is from the perspective of self-nature. Gathering is from the perspective of action. Summing up is from the perspective of ability. The three, such as unsurpassed, are superior to Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas. Thus dedicate. Where to dedicate? It is "unsurpassed" and so on, that is, at that time. By what method to dedicate? It is "how" and so on, that is, by the way of dedicating to the past and so on. That is to say, the Buddha Bhagavan with good

Knowing that the roots of virtue are not perfectly complete, one still directs those roots of virtue, as well as the mind of dedication, and the unsurpassed Bodhi to which one dedicates, without grasping at any truly existent characteristics, dedicating them to unsurpassed Bodhi for the sake of sentient beings. Can I also dedicate in this way? Even if I cannot realize such a method, just as the Buddha Bhagavan dedicated the roots of virtue, so too do I dedicate these roots of my virtue. Dedicating in this way is the dedication with skillful means that the Buddha fully permitted. Having thus spoken of confessing sins and dedicating virtue, the means of attaining great Bodhi are summarized and stated, namely, "All sins are confessed separately," and so on. The cause of wandering in the prison of existence and not attaining great Bodhi is accumulating sinful actions oneself, being angry at the virtue of others, the absence of the Buddha's teachings and the non-abiding of the Buddha in the world, making perverse prayers, disrespecting the Buddha's path, and being separated from its protection. By confessing sins and so on, these faults will gradually lead to the attainment of great Bodhi. Therefore, Master Vasubandhu also said: "The cause of attaining great Bodhi is: all sins are confessed separately, rejoice in all merits, pray to all Buddhas, may my wisdom become the supreme and unsurpassed." As said before, through the door of the four powers, confessing the sins done and accumulated by oneself, and obtaining the excellent joy with the intention of doing virtuous roots with and without outflows, and to those Buddhas and Bhagavat who do not wish to turn the wheel of Dharma and are inclined to indulge in laziness, and to those who show Nirvana, for the sake of sentient beings, pray to turn the wheel of Dharma, not to enter Nirvana but to abide for countless kalpas, and with whatever virtue is done, I wish to pray to attain the supreme wisdom of omniscience. All the Buddhas
