The Explanation of the Ritual for Purifying Karmic Obscurations, named. Dīpaṃkara Śrījñāna. The Explanation of the Ritual for Purifying Karmic Obscurations, named. Dīpaṃkara Śrījñāna. In Indian language: Karma Āvaraṇi Viśodhana Vidhi Bhāṣyaṃ Nāma. In Tibetan: The Explanation of the Ritual for Purifying Karmic Obscurations, named. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! The Subduer, unblemished by stains, Whose wisdom mandala is supremely clear, With rays of speech, for all beings, The sun of freedom from obscurations and desire prevails. Warriors, for those beings who are drowning in the ocean of suffering, seizing their minds, and for those sentient beings who wish to liberate them, one should focus the mind on Bodhi. One should enter the noble path of attaining Bodhi, and without regressing, one should strive for the means of how to increase it. If one regresses due to some circumstances, one should also immediately strive to recover. Like the place of defeat, by practicing the Dharma, one should retake the vows, for medium-level transgressions, confess to three, for small transgressions, confess to one, and for those remaining, one should restrain them with one's own mind, and restore them in accordance with the Dharma, as one has practiced. Through these, for the remaining karmic obscurations, and also for the dense obscurations accumulated from beginningless time, in order to prevent them from becoming obstacles to attaining great Bodhi, one should strive in the ritual of confessing the Bodhisattva's downfalls, permitted by the Subduer, confessing six times day and night. For those objects to whom I am to confess my obscurations, one should take them as allies, and with reverence, prostrate and pray, therefore, first is taking refuge: I, named so-and-so, take refuge in the Buddha, and so on. The perfectly complete Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha who practice accordingly, are respectively the guide to transcend Samsara, the path, and the companion who practices this path. Others such as Kṣitigarbha, the Seizer, the Lion, the Great Power, and so on, as well as yellow ones, flesh-eaters, and so on, are not.

Oh! In order for me to completely conquer the terrifying demons who are bound in the unbearable prison of existence, tightly bound by the heavy shackles of karma and afflictions, etc. Therefore, these beings also rely solely on the Buddha for liberation from the prison of existence. Which sentient being would abandon the Buddha, etc., and seek refuge in others? Prostration is to prostrate to the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly and Completely Awakened Buddha Shakyamuni, etc. These thirty-five Thus-Gone Ones, while practicing the conduct of Bodhisattvas, made the aspiration: When we attain the Unsurpassed, Perfectly and Completely Awakened Enlightenment, may those who hold our names and prostrate to us have all their karmic obscurations purified. Because they possess the power of aspiration, they are placed in the position of being prostrated to, and it is not said that others should be prostrated to. That is not said. Among them, "Suchness" refers to realizing or being certain of it. "Arhat" is "Ar (Tibetan: ཨར་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अर्, Sanskrit Romanization: ar, literal meaning: enemy or spoke)" which means enemy or spoke, having destroyed and broken it, and having eliminated it. Because afflictions, together with their imprints, are transformed into the nature of no longer arising, therefore the spoke of dependent origination is destroyed, hence it is called Arhat, i.e., "Arhat (Tibetan: ཨར་ཧད་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अर्हत्, Sanskrit Romanization: arhat, literal meaning: destroyer of enemies)". Or, it is worthy, because it is worthy of offerings from all beings in the three realms, etc. "Perfectly and Completely" or "Equally," because of universally and completely awakening without omission, therefore "Perfectly and Completely Awakened" refers to these Buddhas proclaiming the greatness of both abandonment and qualities. It can also be seen as other merits. Shakyamuni Buddha is so called because a capable one appeared in the Shakya clan. The wisdom of the Perfectly and Completely Awakened Buddha is the indestructible Vajra, because its essence destroys all unfavorable factors, including the view of the aggregates, therefore it is the Vajra Essence, the supreme destroyer. Similarly, for other Buddhas, one should also follow the characteristics of their qualities and explain the meaning of their names as appropriate. Because qualities are limitless, even if one recites the names of all the Buddhas for each one, the reason for it still exists, so there is no need to worry about committing the fault of self-praise. Supplication refers to supplicating them, etc.
