Or considering oneself inferior, feeling that this place requires someone with great abilities to accomplish, and that I cannot do it, therefore having no interest in virtuous deeds, this is also an obstacle to realizing the three good realms and the three Bodhisattvas. To counteract this, this supreme vehicle is taught, that those who aspire to be reborn in Sukhavati will definitely be reborn, and that merely reciting the name of Ratnachattra will definitely attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and so on, there are many such statements. There is also a contradiction here, because other scriptures say that Sukhavati is a place where only Bodhisattvas who have attained the ground can be reborn, but many who have not trained their minds also aspire to be reborn there, and will definitely attain enlightenment, which refers to dwelling in the immovable or extremely joyful ground. If people like us also recite the name of Ratnachattra, how should that be explained? This is because in order to allow lazy people to also obtain the excellent result, they should temporarily participate in even the small virtuous deeds that serve as seeds. This is taught with consideration for other times, that if they cultivate their minds with the desire to be reborn there, they will be very happy with the virtuous deeds that are in accordance with it. Therefore, one should strive to please the Buddhas and other virtuous friends who teach these teachings, and in each lifetime, one should completely accumulate countless accumulations of merit and wisdom, and finally, after countless eons, until one attains the holy ground, one will be reborn there at another time. Therefore, it cannot be said that one can be reborn merely by relying on these, nor can it be said that one cannot be reborn by relying on these, because the arising of all virtuous deeds depends on it. For example, the arising of fruit depends on seeds, seedlings, leaves, buds, trunks, flowers, soil, water, seasons, wind, and sunlight, but people will say that the fruit arises from seeds, because seedlings and so on depend on seeds to arise, and seeds are the most important. It is the same here. The so-called "content with a little" refers to being content with merely accumulating a little virtue, such as merely giving, keeping precepts, or being patient, and thinking that one is satisfied with just this much.
