The term "non-opposition" indicates the perfection of His activity. The activity of the Tathagata's body generates great joy both from its own nature and temporarily, thus there is no opposition with sentient beings. Merely seeing Him, one realizes, "This is a great being," and generates great joy; this is what is meant by "seeing Him, there is no opposition." The three phrases "gladdens those who believe, is not subdued by wisdom, is not thwarted by powers" indicate upon which sentient beings the Bhagavan relies to perform the deeds of sentient beings. These sentient beings either have thoughts of faith or thoughts of subjugation, and these two types of thoughts cause them to approach the Tathagata. Thoughts of faith are also of two types: thoughts of "what is He like?" or thoughts of great joy. Both of these thoughts have the nature of manifest desire, hence they are called faith. For example, some people have the thought, "What is He like?" and, being motivated by past roots of virtue, go to the Tathagata. Others, having heard of His great qualities, generate great joy and, being motivated by roots of virtue, come forth. Therefore, this indicates those who are in an intermediate state and those who have faith. Because they rejoice upon seeing Him and generate great faith, the Bhagavan is the cause of gladdening both types of believers. "Thoughts of subjugation" are also of two types: thoughts of subjugating with wisdom, such as those who pursue debate for its own sake, like the true proponents, and thoughts of subjugating with physical strength, such as those who live in remote areas and are proud of their strength. Therefore, this indicates those who harbor animosity with two types of thoughts. Because the Bhagavan possesses perfect wisdom and perfect activity of subjugation, He is not subdued by the wisdom of those who wish to subjugate Him, nor is He thwarted by their powers.

is not deceptive. The teacher of all sentient beings, the father of the Bodhisattvas, the king of the noble beings, the guide of those who go to the city of Nirvana, these words indicate that the Blessed One does whatever is the work of all sentient beings. Among them, being called "the teacher of all sentient beings" is because the Blessed One performs the work of all sentient beings without distinction. For example, for some beings born in the lower realms, by truly showing the light and the body of the Tathagata, they generate great joy and place them in the good realms. For those born in the good realms, some who do not possess the roots of virtue, as mentioned before, with an overwhelming thought, place the remaining ones on the path of samsaric happiness, such as giving. Those who possess the roots of virtue, with two kinds of thoughts, cause those of the remaining ones who have not generated the roots of virtue to generate the roots of virtue; those who have generated the roots of virtue, cause the roots of virtue to fully mature; those who have fully matured, then according to their lineage, place them on the path of the Shravakas and so on, and cause them to be completely liberated. Therefore, the Blessed One, in order to accomplish the benefit of beings born in the lower and good realms, and those who possess and do not possess the roots of virtue, is called the teacher of all sentient beings. The difference in the state of that activity is of two kinds: the difference in the state of entering and the difference in the state of approaching. The difference in the state of entering, in order to accomplish the near appearance of the Buddha, the difference in the lineage of the Shravakas and the Buddha is also of two kinds. Among them, with regard to those of the Buddha lineage, it is called "the father of the Bodhisattvas," because the Blessed One, for the Bodhisattvas who have obtained complete mastery over their own qualities, just as the wheel-turning king truly bestows the wheel jewel to the son with the marks, like those who know, is their father.

He is called the king, just as the Blessed One is the king of the ordinary sons of the wheel-turning king, he is like the king of those who attain realization by striving as a single Hearer. The specific stage of entering is possible in all three lineages, therefore, taking that into account, he is called the guide, guiding those who go to the city of Nirvana. The Blessed One guides those who have not generated the seed of liberation into the city of Nirvana, just as he guides them from one path to another, therefore he is called the guide. Immeasurable wisdom, inconceivable fearlessness, completely pure speech, beautiful voice, a body that is pleasing to behold, an incomparable body, these six words indicate the way in which the Blessed One benefits sentient beings, and that way is threefold. Among them, in order, the first word indicates the activity of mind. Three words indicate the activity of speech. Two words indicate the activity of body. Because the activities of speech and body are the essence of manifesting the Dharma and so on, it shows that this is the method of thoroughly benefiting sentient beings. The activity of mind is also fully considered to be a method of benefiting sentient beings, because it initiates all of these. Wisdom operates together with it, therefore it is called the activity of mind here. Because the object is immeasurable, wisdom is immeasurable. Possessing it, the Blessed One is called immeasurable wisdom. The characteristics of the activities of body and speech are considered to be the method of benefiting sentient beings, and they are also immeasurable, and the wisdom of the Blessed One enters into them without obstruction. The activity of speech shows the particularity of the perfect qualities of fearlessness and completely pure voice. Among them, the particularity of fearlessness is also twofold: based on letters and based on meaning. That which is based on letters is that even relying on each word, telling immeasurable eons with different letters, the fearlessness of the Thus-gone One will not be exhausted.
