Not killing and not stealing, not abandoning another's wife, Not lying, not slandering, not speaking harshly, not speaking meaningless words, thus rightly abstaining. Abandoning greed, malice, and wrong views, abandoning these is the ten white deeds. Not deviating from the ten paths of action, not drinking alcohol and living well, in short, this is said to be discipline. Because discipline is the basis for the arising of all qualities, therefore one should strive to uphold discipline. If the inner mind is tamed, external enemies cannot harm. If the inner mind is agitated, external enemies use this as a condition, and the inner enemy burns body and mind. Therefore, destroy this inner enemy. All qualities arise from bodhicitta, the supreme bodhicitta arises from the root of compassion. Therefore, one should possess the nature of compassion. Having dwelt in the discipline of virtuous practice, thereby abandon unfavorable factors. What are the unfavorable factors? Desire and malice greatly torment, self-praise and disparagement of others, the unfavorable factor is seeking gain everywhere. Seeking gain with gain, wasting what is given with faith, concealing transgressions and delighting in commotion. Not being content with one's own gain, being jealous of others and stingy, desiring the gain of others. Not examining one's own faults, but examining the faults of others, not upholding the discipline of individual liberation. Speaking garrulously like a crow, being disrespectful, arrogant, clinging to evil views, And delighting in samsara, turning one's back on nirvana, abandoning the profound Dharma, Being disrespectful to the Three Jewels, despising the lama, having examined, one should abandon them well. When one thus upholds discipline, all beings who did not know before, also bow to the one who possesses discipline. The person who always possesses discipline, goes from happiness to happiness. Thus, the one who possesses the adornment of discipline, completely abandons the deeds of demons, Rejoices in patience and dwells rightly. Patience is that which accomplishes great benefit, who would not be diligent about this? When seeking the Dharma and accomplishing the benefit of others, one should be like an undisturbed ocean with the armor of patience. For the one who possesses the mind that desires the benefit of others, it is said that holding pure discipline is patience. The principle of not causing harm

Extremely difficult to see. That is patience, as the holy hermits said. A body abiding in patience is completely purified, Capable of obtaining beauty, longevity, and freedom from illness. Who would not firmly wear the armor of patience? As such, abiding in the power of patience, Whenever one is delighted to engage in virtuous deeds, Then, the crops of virtue will grow more and more. Explaining liberates the continuum of all sentient beings, Dispels the darkness of ignorance, and generates wisdom. Listening is a branch of enlightenment, Thinking and meditating are like the earth. Without explanation, there is no wisdom, The Buddha's teachings will become short-lived. Listening increases wisdom, And is connected to the support of undiminished meditation. Because one does not understand what to accept and reject, It is like abandoning a boat to cross the ocean. If one does not exert effort diligently, It is like the impossibility of fire arising from wood. Without diligently practicing meditation, How can great fruits arise? Without effort on the continuum, Supreme enlightenment will not arise, For example, it is the same as peaceful actions. Because the Dharmakaya depends on causes, With secret mantras, instructions, and great skillful means, It is said that enlightenment can arise in this life. If one does not accumulate merit, Even for a hundred eons, it will not be accomplished. Regarding the view that it can be accomplished by skillful means, The person who does not make diligent effort, If they misunderstand, It is like crossing the ocean without a boat. The yogi who has not attained realization, But performs vast actions, Will commit transgressions and fall, Like entering a great precipice. Thus, for listening, thinking, and meditating, After making effort, one will perfect the accumulations, Having abandoned the two obscurations, One will attain supreme enlightenment. Thus, the one who possesses diligence, Will delight in solitude. Not clinging to the meaningless and deceptive Worldly dharmas, In solitary places such as forests, The self-arisen monastery Of the mind's nature, primordially unborn, is like this, But for sentient beings with initial karma, First rely on external monasteries, Then seek the monastery of the mind's nature. There, first loving-kindness, One should familiarize oneself with the mind of compassion, Towards impurity, skeletons, and dependent origination, One should equally settle the mind. The five obscurations are to be abandoned, Without meditation, there is no root Of enlightenment, therefore do not abandon the obscurations, Enlightenment without abandoning the obscurations, All philosophical tenets.
