The instruction on how to meditate is as follows: "Without attachment to desire," and so on, meaning that the cause of the paths of the ten non-virtuous actions is desire, etc., so it should be abandoned. Since there is no liberation from samsara and the suffering of death cannot be reversed, the instruction to meditate on the faults of samsara is as follows: "The power of kingship," and so on, with the word "abandon" meaning that it should be abandoned because it returns to samsara again, just as the teacher himself said about the faults of the high and low of samsara. The term "life" means lifespan. The term "without disease" means that one should not be content with the life of the body and the happiness of the body. Someone objects, saying that desires should be enjoyed, so why be attached? To this, it should be known that whatever can be satisfied is what can be relied upon. Desires are like saltwater, which only makes one tired and painful, so because it is meaningless, it should not be relied upon. This is what is meant by saying "obtaining desires," and so on. From the perspective of seeking, it is obtaining or obtaining individually. From the perspective of guarding, it is accumulating or completely accumulating. From the perspective of enjoying, it is relying. The term "I do not say" means not saying that one is satisfied with desires, which is to say, not accepting. So, what is the fruit? Nirvana is what should be accomplished, and this is showing the benefit. As it says in the sutra, "The satisfied noble one is wisdom." This means that one should strive to attain the path of seeing, and wisdom is the non-erroneous wisdom of truth. Therefore, one should act as the Bhagavan said, which is the conduct of the victors, as the teacher Arya Nagarjuna himself said in the Ratnavali. Thus, after explaining the abandonment of the inverted clinging to permanence, pleasure, self, and purity, now, in order to abandon the inverted practice of purity, it says, "One should always be endowed with meditating on the impurity of the body." So, how should one meditate? As it says in the sutra, "This body has hair," and so on, which is temporarily from the internal perspective. Things like "various decays" are from the external perspective. Internal and external desires
