Likewise, the Dharma-nature of the Buddhas also, constantly fulfills aspirations completely. In this world without end or center, may he become the guide for the people of the world. Through those aspirations of his, may the ten directions be filled with the Victorious Ones. Just as the moon rises, countless reflections, although they appear in vessels of water, the moon does not become two. Similarly, those stainless, wise ones, stainlessly awaken completely, and appear clearly in all realms. There is not even a second Buddha. It is said that although there is no duality in the ultimate sense, there are still differences in mere conventional terms. This is extensively explained by the Bhagavan in the Madhyamaka treatises from all the ultimate teachings. In the Sutra of the Chapter on Truth, it is said: "Manjushri, I have not established anything in the vehicle of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Manjushri, the establishment in the vehicle is merely conventional. In the ultimate sense, there is neither one nor two vehicles." Furthermore, if one rigidly adheres to the extremes of Dharma-nature, then the path of Mahayoga is also beyond words and thoughts. Although there is no commentary in the scriptures, it is only explained through conventional terms in order to lead ordinary, inferior beings into the straight Dharma-nature. Among them, if all non-conceptual activities are abandoned, then should all actions generated by virtuous thoughts also be abandoned? Are offerings to the Three Jewels and so forth contradictory? In response to this, the explanation in the Ratnakuta Sutra states: "Without the perception of Buddha, without the perception of Dharma, without the perception of Sangha, that is the true offering." In the Sutra Requested by Sagaramati, it is also said: "Sagaramati, these three are the supreme offerings and services to the Tathagata. What are the three? Generating the mind of Bodhicitta, upholding the sacred Dharma of the Tathagatas, and generating great compassion for sentient beings." Thus it is said. Some say that much hearing and speaking are necessary. In response to this, the explanation in the Great Pinnacle Sutra states: "Even if the mind is focused on holding the limitless, if one thinks of turning back, one will fall into the extreme. Is this not following the cycle?" Thus it is said. In the Essence of the Moon Sutra, it is said: "For example, any spark of fire,

The great ocean cannot be dried up. Similarly, the conventional truth cannot dry up its own afflictions, let alone other sentient beings. Thus it is said. In the Lankavatara Sutra, it is said: If someone clings to the sound of reality and practices accordingly, they will fall into hell after death. They trust in base illusions, yet they are given the name of "true wisdom." Speech itself is the three sufferings; the cessation of suffering is the true reality. Thus it is said. Again, in the same sutra, it is said: All explanations are mistaken, because there are no letters in reality. Thus it is said. Again, in the same sutra, it is said that being well-learned means being skilled in meaning, not skilled in words. Thus it is said. In the Sutra of No Arising, it is said: If one does not fully understand the nature of dharma, one cannot attain enlightenment through the bonds of words. Thus it is said. In the Samdhinirmocana Sutra, it is said: Because of a long-standing fondness for speech and indulgence in speech, one cannot contemplate, infer, or believe in the truth of the inner noble silence. Thus it is said. In the Manjushri Residence Sutra, it is said: All thoughts about conditioned phenomena, and all thoughts about unconditioned phenomena, are declared by the wise to be the work of demons. Thus it is said. In the Akasagarbha Sutra, it is said: As much as one speaks, that much is the work of demons. What can demons do with no speech and no signs? Thus it is said. In the Brahma's Inquiry Sutra, it is said: Not distinguishing between dharma and non-dharma, being free from the two signs, is the practice of the path. Thus it is said. In the Dharma King Sutra, it is said: Son of noble family, if you wish to be liberated, cut off the root of desire. Do not think with a dualistic mind, but think with one mind, and abandon the thoughts of existence and non-existence. The nature of mind is emptiness; the nature of mind has neither going nor coming, neither taking nor abandoning. There is nothing, and this is called enlightenment. Thus it is said. In the Suvarnaprabhasa Sutra, it is said: Although it is taught and explained in a conventional way, if one examines the true meaning with wisdom, it is not like that. Because the illusion of words can reveal the true doctrine. Thus it is said. In the Hundred Thousand Prajnaparamita Sutra, it is said: If one understands the dharmadhatu, one also understands the sutras and expansions of all dharmas.
