In addition to individually attaining the samadhis practiced on the ground, by the power of great compassion, one will transcend the deeds of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and by discriminating with the wisdom of knowledge, one will also manifestly turn towards the eighth bhumi. Moreover, the deeds of body, speech, and mind of this bhumi, being free from characteristics, will also enter limitlessly. So, is it not only on the first bhumi that one transcends the conduct of the Shravakas and others? Why is it said again here? There, it is by the very nature of greatly focusing on the Buddha's teachings, not by discriminating with one's own intelligence. As it is said in the Noble Ten Bhumis Sutra: "O sons of the Victorious One, it is like this: for example, a prince born into a royal family, possessing the marks of a king, overwhelms the assembly of ministers with the king's blessings, but not by discriminating with his own intelligence. When he grows up, he will also do so by developing the power of his own intelligence. O sons of the Victorious One, similarly, as soon as a Bodhisattva generates bodhicitta, he overwhelms all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas with the very nature of great superior intention, but not by discriminating with his own intelligence. Abiding on this seventh bhumi, merely by abiding in the great nature of the special characteristic of knowing one's own realm, one is far beyond the deeds of all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. One has attained the deeds of body, speech, and mind that are profound, solitary, and without movement, and one does not abandon the effort to seek further distinctions." The deeds of a Bodhisattva, because they especially rely on samadhi, are therefore free from characteristics. If it is said that the deeds of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas also enter into being free from characteristics, they are not limitless, because they do not have the freedom to do what benefits all sentient beings. The deeds of this bhumi, because they perfect the practice of application, are well-trained, and one has realized the appearance of tolerance towards the unborn dharma. Because it has been long, it is profound. Because it has abandoned the obscurations that are contrary to it, it is solitary. Because it does not move on other supramundane and mundane grounds, it is without movement. Shravakas and Pratyekas

The activities of the Buddhas, although devoid of characteristics, are not like this. They merely abide in this, because they do not fully seek higher realms. The abiding is also special, because it abides by abiding in the edge of reality, and does not manifest cessation. As it is said in the Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, from the sixth bhumi onwards, bodhisattvas enter into meditative absorption. On the seventh bhumi, from moment of mind to moment of mind, they enter into and arise from cessation, but it is not to be said that they have manifested cessation. Therefore, this is said to be endowed with inconceivable activities of body, speech, and mind, and constantly obtains a secluded mind. For the sake of fully ripening sentient beings, by the power of aspiration, appearing to be born in the three realms, they are not stained by the faults of the world." Here, entering into the edge of reality is entering into cessation, because cessation is called Suchness. Here, all elaborations are ceased. For this, countless billions of Buddhas will also appear, and in a single moment, one can also obtain countless billions of samadhis individually, see countless billions of Buddhas, and also know their blessings, and also shake and manifest countless billions of world realms, go to countless billions of fields, fully ripen countless billions of sentient beings, abide for countless billions of kalpas, and thoroughly enter into the past and future limits, and also distinguish countless billions of dharma doors, manifest countless billions of bodies, and also manifest countless billions of bodhisattva retinues in body after body. Mostly, they will become the lords of the Paranirmita-vasavartin gods, and are proficient and principal in accomplishing the wisdom of the direct realization of sentient beings, and are skilled in placing sentient beings in a faultless place. The skillful means of this will become extremely superior to the perfection of wisdom.
