However, if someone says that whatever living body is fully regarded as the place of enjoyment, that itself is called having a "self," that is not correct. Because I have said that it is empty of "self," it is empty of "self," it is separate, it is not blessed. Like this, for the time being, the valid means of proving the existence of a "self" does not exist. Direct cognition is not cognition of a "self," because the eye consciousness, etc., are determined to be the five objects of form, etc., and also, the object of the consciousness that cognizes as "self" is also the body, etc. Thoughts of recognizing as "self" arise in the manner of "I am white," "I am fat," "I am going," etc. For this thing that is different from the body, the nature of the body, whiteness and fatness themselves do not exist. For someone who is not pervasive and has a body, the act of walking that follows the substance of someone who has a body is also not reasonable. This is like a Brahmin child being called a lion, it is also unreasonable to make a hypothetical cognition, because it is without change. It is also unreasonable to make a hypothetical naming for something that is without change, because it would lead to the interruption of real names. It is also impossible to cognize through inference, because there are no signs of self-nature and result. Because the "self" that is always hidden and does not change in place and time, and anything that follows it, since the nature of the cause and result of variability is not established, the sign of the result is unreasonable. And, since the subject itself is not established, the sign of self-nature is unreasonable. For what can be inferred, other signs that have the power to establish existence also do not exist. Even if there are other signs, they must be pervaded by the thing to be proven, but that is not established at any time, therefore it is uncertain for the pervader itself. In whatever place, through whatever, whatever thing, it will not be definitely pervaded by it, therefore for this, no sign exists. If someone thinks like this, if the living body is said to have a "self," because of this sign, then this fault will occur. However, if it is said that desire, etc., have a basis, because they are things, because they are results, like form, etc., then what is the basis of desire, etc.?

If one thinks that we are the masters, then, if one wants to rely on causes, then, because we also do not think that desires, etc., are without causes, therefore it is established for us, so the reason is meaningless. However, if it is said to be a basis, then it is also its result, and it is also without a basis, because there is no valid cognition that can harm this contradiction, so merely doubting the contradiction is uncertain. Because some results are seen to be without a basis, everything will become like that, because there is no definite reason. If it is said that a living body is not without self, because it would become without life, etc., then this statement cannot establish the self, because it is said that seeing selfless pots, etc., is empty, so the living body must also become like this now, for this there is a definite reason. Like this, if something is the same as something in some aspects, it is not considered that it is the same as that thing in all aspects, because a pot and cloth are the same in being made and being selfless, but they are also the same in being a pot and not being a pot. If the self is the cause of life, etc., and is not the nature of pervasion, then, for the first aspect, it is difficult to avoid the fault of the eyes, etc., becoming without results, like this, if the permanent self with the nature of the object of perception exists, then the eyes, etc., have no need, and if these become necessary, for those who say that the self is the nature of knowledge, it is impossible not to observe the object of perception. Even if there are some impermanent objects of perception, because the permanent self with the nature of the object of perception always exists, even if it is allowed to exist, because the permanent self with the nature of the object of perception exists, then the senses are in a state of being free from necessity, in that case, what is the use of admitting that the object of perception is impermanent? If impermanence does not exist, then one does not cling to the unconditioned permanent as a thing, if it is not like that, then it is not, no, even if one is separated from the impermanent mind, it is not reasonable to stay on the self of the sentient being, and if one stays, it will also become the fault of being without limit.
