This is a brief explanation of the order of abandoning the clinging to superimposition. This is a debate with the Great Vehicle Madhyamikas. If you say that wisdom itself does not exist, then what is your nirvana? How do you benefit sentient beings? To this it is explained: For example, as long as there is sesame oil and a wick, the flame of a lamp will continue to burn. When the wick and sesame oil are exhausted, the flame of the lamp will be completely extinguished. Similarly, when ignorance, like a wick and sesame oil, is exhausted, the discriminating consciousness, like a lamp, will naturally cease, to the extent that even a hundredth part of a hair does not exist, and everything will be completely cut off. Therefore, the transformed wisdom does not arise from anywhere. Thereafter, whatever is completely empty is considered to be nirvana. Thus, how can it not be annihilation? Listen to the explanation with an example. If someone says that the sky does not exist, is that believing in annihilation? Similarly, I also say that it does not exist to those who do not understand that the mind, like the sky, is originally non-existent, but I do not eliminate existing things to make them non-existent. We are not Madhyamikas, so how can we be annihilationists? As for the question of how to benefit sentient beings, it is also explained that the son of the Buddha who has become the master of the ten bhumis, having obtained mastery over all aspirations, looks at the realm of sentient beings and thinks that if he does not obtain the Dharmakaya, he will not be able to accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings, so in an instant he manifests the Dharmakaya and blesses this kind of aspiration: From the moment I manifest perfect enlightenment, until samsara is completely emptied, may various forms and voices constantly appear for sentient beings as they deserve, filling the boundless space of the sky. May bodhisattvas obtain the desired Sambhogakaya. After blessing this kind of aspiration, emptiness becomes like the sun at midday in autumn, the nature of complete pacification of all dust of characteristics. That itself is nirvana.

It is said to be beyond karma. Any explanation of wisdom, power, authority, and so on, and self-awareness, and so on, is only taught to dispel fear. Therefore, through the power of the aspiration that is empowered by aspiration, and through the power of sentient beings who possess merit, various forms of body, speech, and miracles will arise. In reality, there is not even a little bit of substance. If there were substance, then what difference would there be from all conditioned natures? Therefore, some people take the wish-fulfilling jewel and the Dharma tree of accomplished flight as examples, but these cannot be taken as examples in all ways, because this is not becoming a substance like them. Here it is also said: If everything is non-existent, then how should birth, duration, and destruction be viewed? What arises from the very first question? It is said: Birth. Explanation: How does birth, which is separate from duration and destruction, arise? If you want birth that is separate from duration and destruction, then who can prevent the arising of a rabbit's horn? Again, it is said: Duration arises first. Explanation: How does duration, which is separate from birth and destruction, arise? If you want duration that is separate from birth and destruction, then the first is unborn, the second is birth, and the third is destruction, so duration is simply non-existent. Again, it is said: Destruction. Explanation: If you want destruction that is separate from birth and duration, then who can prevent the destruction of a barren woman's son? If birth, duration, and destruction exist at the same time, then explanation: Do darkness and light exist at the same time? Birth, duration, and destruction are mutually contradictory, so how can they arise simultaneously? Therefore, birth, duration, and destruction are simply non-existent. Here it is said: If everything is simply non-existent, then practicing generosity and so on becomes meaningless, and what is to be attained, called enlightenment, also becomes non-existent, and therefore, in all ways, the establishment becomes confused. Here it is explained: If someone's eyes are afflicted with jaundice, they will see tangled hair in the sky.

Seeing hair whorls and hazes, that person, being of intelligent nature, thinks, "These things I see are not real, but appear this way because my eyes are impaired by eye disease." Is that person then misunderstanding? Wouldn't that person strive to remove the eye disease that causes him to see things wrongly? Similarly, after removing the mistaken understanding like the disease of cataracts, which causes the appearance of non-existence, like an eye free from disease, free from all diseases of characteristics, becoming like space, transforming into the nature of a non-substantial substance, is there any fault in this? Just as a magical person gives alms to a magical person, and he also attains what is called enlightenment, we also desire alms and so forth, and the results of those are also like that. Therefore, we do not speak like those who confuse distinctions, like annihilationists. Therefore, one should first ascertain the selflessness that has been examined by the reasoning of those who have passed away in the past, and abide in mere phenomena. Then, the mere phenomena of aggregates and so forth, should also be made invisible by the reasoning mentioned above, and one should abide in mind-only. Similarly, by a vast collection of reasoning, the mind should be made invisible, transcending all extremes, the dust of characteristics pacified, not self, sentient being, or life, and one should look at such a state without waves of self-awareness. For example, as long as a person applies eye medicine many times, the eye disease will diminish. Similarly, as long as one clings to non-existence, the disease of clinging will also diminish, and after a long time, one will even abandon the clinging of thinking that it does not exist. In accordance with this, when at any time, the object of investigation that does not exist cannot be observed, one will abandon the clinging of slightly thinking that it does not exist, so it is said. Therefore, in order to be able to truly understand the dharmas that have been spoken of as before, one should be careful and constantly strive diligently. Having given such instruction, these summarizing verses were spoken: In order to avert the clinging to self, the aggregates, elements, etc., were taught. Mind
