It will become an action. It is unreasonable for others to appear as the nature of others, because it would become too extreme. If that were the case, then all ultimate truths would also become the objects of all consciousnesses. Because for the nature that appears, there is no other on it either, because it would become multiple entities. Like the two moons, etc., it is unreasonable for that to be true as the nature of consciousness, because it would become a non-multiple entity, like the self-nature of consciousness, as it is the nature of being non-different from one consciousness. Or, because that is non-different from consciousness, it would become multiple entities like its own nature. The various aspects of appearance that seem to be fully grasped as residing as if distributed on the object, because it is established in this way, it is also unreasonable to think that multiple consciousnesses arise, because consciousnesses, etc., are without bodies, and there is no full grasp of residing as if distributed on the object. Therefore, in the ultimate sense, those cannot be the nature of consciousness either. However, these objects and times, etc., also appear definitively, therefore, although all things are devoid of ultimate self-nature, appearance is not contradictory, so there is no direct harm to the proposition. If someone thinks that even if there is no direct harm, the contradiction with one's own words is very obvious, just like this, wanting to generate certainty in other beings, because the proponent has promised that certainty arises through the proposition, so certainty becomes a promise to have self-nature. If that is not the case, then the statement of the proposition would only become meaningless. Because this promise harms the established selflessness, so it is very obvious to contradict one's own words, just like saying "My mother is a barren woman," if you think like that. That is also unreasonable, although the proposition is stated in order to generate certainty, that does not mean that the promise of certainty will arise in the ultimate sense. However, only the arising itself is promised, not the difference of arising. Because the ultimate arising is prevented, here it is intended to establish selflessness in the ultimate sense, not to prevent the arising itself. Therefore, it is certain through the proposition

Because there is no birth in the ultimate sense, just as there is an image from a face, the birth in the conventional sense is indeed not contradictory, so there is no contradiction with one's own words in making a vow. That definite conventionality is also considered to be a valid cognition as a reason for realizing the ultimate, so there is no fault. This also answers the objection that it contradicts the scriptures that explain the relationship between actions and results and dependent origination, because the relationship between actions and results, etc., has been admitted to be conventional. Although it is the nature of conventionality, refutation and examination are not the same, because it is unexaminable, because it is conventional. If it were not so, then it would become the nature of the ultimate, and not the conventional. Therefore, from all afflictions and complete purification, etc., and since no relationship is established with the ultimate nature in any way, harm by inference is also impossible. Therefore, if one merely establishes all afflictions, etc., as a cause, then it is establishing what has already been established, because it has already been admitted that it is the cause of conventionality. There is no dispute over names, because the appearance of falsehood is also established, and also because it is harmed by valid cognition. In the Holy Lankavatara Sutra, it says: Bodhisattvas should not vow that all things are without self-nature. That statement should be understood as refuting the vow of no self-nature in only one aspect, because the nature of conventionality has already been admitted, so refuting only one aspect is unreasonable. If it were not so, there would be the fault of being harmed by direct perception, etc., and in the extremely clear, there is not even a little valid cognition that establishes such no self-nature. Merely making a vow does not accomplish the desired meaning, because it would be the fault of everything being established in everything. Therefore, one should refute the nature of the ultimate, not the general. Therefore, in that same sutra it also says: Great Wisdom, because it is the characteristic of appearance and non-appearance, bodhisattvas should not vow that all things are without self-nature. Great Wisdom, however, bodhisattvas should say that all dharmas are like illusions and dreams.
