It is not appropriate to confuse the two. If not for cause and conditions, the cause cannot be determined. Others only cling to the result, and similarly, others only cling to the cause. If the two cannot be experienced simultaneously, how can a blind person combine the two? Since the result does not appear, and the cause is not what some believe it to be, then I cannot experience it through the nature of the result, etc. The appearance of forms such as water, and the cognition of phenomena arising immediately from fire, etc., and the thought of fire arising from the cognition of smoke. Therefore, the causal relationship of smoke arising from fire, and sprouts arising from seeds, etc., cannot be established. Because smoke can also arise from other things, the cognition of fire appearing from seeing smoke cannot establish inference either. If the thoughts of fire and smoke necessarily arise simultaneously, then smoke itself is the sign, not fire, why is that? Just as the thought of smoke can clearly awaken habits, thereby recognizing the thought of fire, why can't the thought of fire awaken the thought of smoke in the same way? In this way, because all knowledge comes from all things, and all things become signs of all things, alas, what can be understood exists. Therefore, for the time being, truly recognizing the causal relationship from direct perception does not exist, so these two direct perceptions are uncertain. Because the connection between the two and the change of signs cannot be established, causal things cannot be established from inference either. The determination of signs and connections cannot be established in direct perception, because both will become hidden, as mentioned before. Because this inevitably leads to nowhere to rely on, inference is also unreasonable. From a sign without a definite connection, the thing itself cannot be determined either. The sign itself cannot be established in direct perception, just like the thing itself. Inference cannot be established, and similarly, there is nowhere to rely on here. If you want to establish the existence of causal things, then all arguments cannot avoid the three faults. Just like in order to establish existence, is it argued through the nature of things, or through non-things, or both, or the nature of non-both? If the thing is not established, then relying on it,

The dharma of a thing with characteristics is not established, because it is to establish the opposite of that. The dharma of a non-existent thing becomes contradictory. The dharma of both is uncertain, because it is also present in the antidote. The nature of a non-dual dharma cannot be understood even by the mind. However, it does not establish existence, but if it establishes that the two are related, then that establishment is also logical. If it is not like that, all reasons will become the fault of the basis not being established. One's own nature, that very thing, has already been shown before as not being established. Furthermore, in order to establish the result, the cause does not have the power. If that is established, then it will be established. If it is established, then what does the cause do? Therefore, relying on each other, the two are established. Without oneself being fully established, one cannot become the protector of others. From smoke, one knows fire; from waterfowl, one knows water. Whatever results, such as actions, are said to rely on convention. In reality, time and so on are prohibited in other sutras, so that very reality cannot be established by reason either. In order to establish that, the reasons of oneself and others are also not to be examined, because the basis is not fully established, because that self is not established. Even if there is a basis, in order to establish it, what is established in general is because it is accepted in convention. Thus, establishing is establishing. This thing of cause and effect, in order to be established in reality, the concomitance of this reason is the same as unestablished, excessive, and to be examined. Whatever is of the nature of arising, all of that is said to be of the nature of ceasing. Whatever is said in the sutras about arising and ceasing, such as actions, is only the selflessness of the person, in order to enter into reality. It is said for the sake of the Hearers, not relying on profound words. The very reality of all dharmas, in the nature of arising and ceasing, those who see accordingly, their wisdom is said to be an image. If that exists, then it does not exist. In order to establish that, what is said is also that there is no difference between what is to be established and what establishes. However, for those who are extremely ignorant, it is to be done as a convention, because what is to be established is easy to establish, the vow of one side does not change. For those of the nature of cause and effect, true direct perception is established.
