What? Why is that? Because if that basis is grasped, the generality of cow-ness, etc., can also be grasped. For example, what is it like? It's like numbers. For example, if you grasp objects such as a vase, you can say one vase, two vases, many vases. Because numbers such as one are not different from objects, and you cannot grasp them without grasping the object. Similarly, here, if you grasp the collection of mane, etc., and the collection, then cow-ness itself will definitely be grasped. Therefore, the object called generality is the object of consciousness, so it should also be examined. Because words apply to objects that are determined by consciousness, it is also desirable to speak of that object. The thing called cow-ness is not different from mane, etc. Then what is it like? It is not different from the very nature of the object itself. Furthermore: "Because of non-difference, it is one, Because of non-substance, it enters into many. Because it does not perish even when it perishes, It is not desired that it also enters into others." This refers to the emptiness due to different kinds, which is the generality of all aspects, and is one because of non-difference. Because it belongs to all substances, it enters into many because it is without substance. Because it abides in all substances that enter into the three times, it does not perish even when that substance perishes. Therefore, it is not that when one substance perishes, the mind of that also enters into other substances, but rather it is only desired that that mind also enters into others. If it is only one, how can it be impure and become a generality? Therefore, it is said: "Not blue lotus, not, Without object not removed. Because it possesses a common basis, The two enter into one meaning." The so-called "not blue" refers to white, etc. The so-called "not utpala" refers to lotus, etc. White, etc., which are not blue, are not things in which blue itself exists, and lotus, etc., which are not utpala, are not things in which utpala itself exists. Similarly, here

Furthermore, that which is not form, the object without sound and so forth, is not form itself. That which is not a cow, the object without a horse and so forth, is apprehended as the cow itself. For example, blue does not exclude the lotus, nor does the lotus exclude blue. Since these two, as qualities and the nature of qualities, rely on one substance without excluding each other, they are indeed endowed with a common basis. That which has a common basis, is not different, and has commonality, is endowed with a common basis. Its object is indeed endowed with a common basis. Thus, blue also exists in clouds and eye medicine, and the lotus also exists in red and so forth, so these two are not endowed with a common basis. But here, the two terms 'blue' and 'lotus' apply to the same meaning of substance, therefore they are indeed endowed with a common basis. Similarly, the distinction of the nature of non-form is considered to be the general characteristic of form and so forth, because it is the cause of the mind that perceives objects. Therefore, in this way, Emptiness due to different kinds is proven to be the general characteristic. The exclusion of others is simply not reasonable as the general characteristic. How is it? The exclusion of others is not the general characteristic of others. Because it is another dharma, like a difference. For the vulva and so on, there is no distinction of mind. Because for the non-existent, there is no difference. Because the exclusion of others is what is excluded and differentiated by others, just as the cow itself is excluded by other things such as horses. It is not the general characteristic of others. Why? Because it is another dharma. For example, just as the difference of the horns of a cow and so forth is excluded by the difference of the mane of a horse and so forth, but they are not its general characteristic. Similarly, the non-cow, that is, other things such as horses, exclude the cow itself, but they are not the general characteristic of the cow. The exclusion of others would also become without distinction of mind for things such as the vulva, tail, hump, and hooves. Why? Because the exclusion of others is without self-nature, so for the non-existent, there is no difference. Simply because it is non-existent, it clings to it without grasping the object. It should be examined.
