Thus, the Dragon King Anavatapta, having fully obtained the power to control karma and birth, took birth in the great lake called Panasa. His aspiration was: "Whatever beings, whatever creatures, bathe in, drink from, enter, and dwell in the rivers that flow from this lake of mine, may those beings themselves become the cause of their enlightenment, and may all those beings gradually be placed by me in the state of Buddhahood." Because he said this, there is no contradiction in those beings themselves being fully embraced by the virtuous friend and becoming Buddhas. Fasting and so forth are also taught for the sake of fully training the body and so forth that practice the vidyā-mantras, and for the sake of accomplishing the vidyā-mantras, not for the sake of desiring liberation. How could that be another path? Therefore, it is difficult to avoid the fault of the unestablished subject itself. Even if that is true, in the Mahayana, even if those paths are taught, they are without fruit, because knowing suffering does not transcend sorrow. If someone says that there are faults such as contradicting the seeing of the truths of suffering and so forth. If that is the case, then first one should look at the teachings you teach, that is, what is the equality of the four noble truths that is said, that is completely pure. Again, what is equality? All dharmas are emptiness, because they are of one taste in the nature of non-things. Examining the emptiness of suffering and so forth is like this: By preventing the arising of suffering from being shown, unarisen suffering is not accepted as suffering. If arisen suffering is the nature, why is it not taken as empty? I and other and both, and arising from no cause are prevented, how can the unarisen be taken as the truth of suffering? Why is it not definitely taken that these aspects of the five aggregates that arise from causes and conditions and are seen to arise are empty of nature? Something like this is the thesis. Again, the reason and example are: Because it is conditioned, it is like an illusion, or like the uncontaminated aggregates. The suffering of birth and so forth is the natureིས་སྟོང་པའོ་ is called an extra word. Therefore, these are by their very nature. You who believe suffering to be true, who desire it with the mind of right view, that which is infallible is not true that there is a slight nature of suffering. Since this is infallible by its very nature emptiness. Therefore, that which has the mind to truly see that this is the truth of suffering is the mind of right view. Then, why is it considered infallible? Furthermore, feeling suffering is suffering. How is birth etc. suffering itself? When one is born, the experience of wanting to separate arises, and other experiences such as birth, aging, sickness, death, and sorrow are not experienced, why are they suffering? If impermanence is suffering, then the cause and the path are also suffering. If whatever is impermanent is suffering, then the origin and the path should also become suffering. In that case, suffering and cessation would become two truths. If it is said that suffering is the cause, then the origin would become suffering itself. Because birth etc. are the cause of experiencing suffering, therefore, attaching the result to the cause, it is also considered that birth etc. are suffering itself. If whatever is the cause of experiencing suffering is called suffering, then ignorance, craving, and actions, which are called the origin, which are the cause of experiencing suffering, should also become suffering itself. If that happens, then suffering, cessation, and the path would become three truths. Furthermore, suffering itself is just a word. How does one know that it is suffering? Imputation, mere words, convention, and attachment, etc. Attaching to mere words is synonymous with mere words. Birth etc. are not suffering by their very nature, but if they are attached by name to mere words and said to be suffering, then whatever knows birth etc. to be suffering, also

It is not established, because it is not real, how can it become the truth? Understanding such suffering and so on, if it is not as it is, it should also be established by valid cognition, that is: The knowledge of the object of suffering, that is not the truth, because it knows it as suffering, like the thought of suffering from thorns, etc. Whatever arises as the understanding of "this is suffering," that is not the real truth, because it completely understands the aspect of suffering, for example, hell beings, or those who have entered the battlefield, pierced, cut, and struck by arrows, spears, and sharp swords, etc., causing unpleasant suffering, like the mind that possesses such suffering. Having thus refuted the truth of suffering, one should begin to refute the truth of the origin, that is: Cause is not the cause of suffering, it should not be the nature of origin, like cutting with a knife, or like the path because it arises from the mind. Whatever ignorance, craving, and karma are considered to be the cause of suffering, if these are the cause of arising, then they are the origin, which is unreasonable, because they are the cause of suffering. Just as cutting with a knife is the cause of suffering. Or, the origin also arises from the mind, so just as the eightfold noble path is not the cause of the arising of suffering. Thus, the mind that is the object of the cause of suffering, that is considered to be false, because it distinguishes the cause, etc., like the knower of the cause of suffering. Whatever mind is the object of the cause of suffering, that is not the real truth, because he knows that the cause of suffering can give rise to suffering, for example, for cutting with a knife, etc., like the discriminating mind that thinks "this is the cause of suffering." After completely refuting the origin, in order to refute the truth of cessation, non-arising cessation is not existent, the refutation of what was said before. Thus it is said, before in this treatise, all arising has been refuted, therefore for the unborn
