For the Tathagata, whose nature is emptiness, whose nature is peace, there are four possibilities such as permanence and impermanence. The Tathagata is permanent, the Tathagata is impermanent, the Tathagata is both permanent and impermanent, the Tathagata is neither permanent nor impermanent—how could these statements be reasonable? For the four possibilities such as having an end and having no end. The Tathagata has an end, the Tathagata has no end, the Tathagata both has an end and has no end, the Tathagata is neither having an end nor having no end—how could these statements be reasonable? The so-called Tathagata, whose nature is separate from self and other, how could it become any one of permanence and impermanence, etc.? Because it is designated in dependence on the aggregates, therefore one should not say that the Tathagata does not exist. Because, that which is designated in dependence, how could it not exist? It is also said below: "Therefore, it is not other than the taking, nor is it the taking itself. I am not without taking, nor is it certain that it does not exist." Therefore, thus being separated from the extremes of the Tathagata existing and not existing, for those who are bound by a mind completely entangled by ignorance towards the Tathagata who is not found in this very life, they alone are those whose sight is obscured. Whoever takes holding tightly, towards nirvana, they will speculate thus: Does the Tathagata exist? Or does the Tathagata not exist? Whoever takes holding firmly, thinking that this is true and the rest is meaningless, towards the nirvana of the Tathagata, they will speculate thus: Is the Tathagata existent? Or is the Tathagata non-existent? They will thus discriminate and speculate. Does the Tathagata exist after nirvana? Does the Tathagata not exist after nirvana? Does the Tathagata both exist and not exist after nirvana? Does the Tathagata neither exist nor not exist after nirvana?

also observes. Those who rely on the great self-nature, and with the light of the lamp of knowing dependent arising, benefit the eye of wisdom, and see things as they truly are, for them, regarding that emptiness of self-nature, after the Buddha's nirvana, is it existent or non-existent? Such a thought is not reasonable. The Tathagata, empty of self-nature and empty of otherness, like an illusion, a reflection, or an emanation, that nirvana, regarding that Buddha, the Bhagavan, after nirvana, is existent, or the Buddha, the Bhagavan, after nirvana, is non-existent, such thoughts are not reasonable. Thus, the Bhagavan said: Ananda, you who have not truly seen the Tathagata in this life, that will become an obstacle. The Tathagata after nirvana is existent, or the Tathagata after nirvana is non-existent, etc., those who, all those who engage in proliferation on the Buddha who has transcended proliferation, on the inexhaustible, all those who are diminished by proliferation, will not see the Tathagata. Therefore, thus, all those who, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, has completely transcended all worldly proliferation, and on the inexhaustible, engage in proliferation with existence and non-existence, permanence and impermanence, etc., all those people, because of those proliferations, the eye of wisdom is diminished, like a blind person not seeing the sun, they will not see the Tathagata. The Tathagata abides in the Dharma that transcends the world, how can he be observed with worldly proliferations such as existence? The so-called inexhaustible means without going, as it is said: Without going, with what step is it measured? Thus it is said. Therefore, the Tathagata is without self-nature, therefore, for him, the continuation of existence is the only existence, because the Tathagata exists, what is said in this way is not reasonable. Here, there are two kinds of world, namely the sentient world and the world of formations. Here, examining the Tathagata is also examining the sentient world, examining the Tathagata himself is also examining the world of

It should also be understood through examination. Why? For example: What is the true nature of the Tathagata? It is the very nature of this world. Because whatever the nature of the Tathagata is, that is also the nature of this world, therefore, examining the Tathagata is also examining these worlds. Question: What is the nature of the Tathagata? Answer: The true nature of the Tathagata is without essence, and this world is also without essence. How so? Because the Tathagata is designated in dependence on the aggregates, and is not established from its own side, therefore it is without essence. These beings are also designated in dependence on those and those, and these beings have no establishment from their own side at all, therefore, beings are also without essence like the Tathagata. Because it is without essence, therefore, regarding this: The four, such as permanence and impermanence, where are they in this peace? The four, such as end and endlessness, where are they in this peace? So it is said. Question: It is not so, because it is said that conditioned phenomena are impermanent, but it is not said that the Tathagata is impermanent, therefore, how can it be established to say, "What is the true nature of the Tathagata? It is the very nature of this world"? Answer: That will also be said below: The Dharma taught by the Buddhas, truly relies on two truths, the worldly conventional truth, and the ultimate truth. Therefore, in terms of the worldly conventional truth, just as it is said that a vase exists, a bowl exists, so too it is said that the vase is broken, the bowl is burned, and these are said to be impermanent. When it is merely a bowl, the vase and the bowl are designated in dependence, and if it is not established, then how can breaking and burning be established? Furthermore, the Tathagata is also said to be aging and passing into Nirvana due to worldly conventions, and is also said to be impermanent. When thinking in terms of ultimate truth, if the Tathagata itself is not established, then how can aging and passing into Nirvana be established? Therefore, the nature of the Tathagata
