The present cause is transformed into the very nature of impermanence, and those that are unmade, by making manifest, making manifest is merely exhausted, but not produced. Furthermore, those that are born are not permanent, and the Dharma that is dissimilar is that which does not arise, and the cause makes manifest only those that are permanent. Therefore, because the Dharma is dissimilar, it is said that those that are unmade are not permanent. If that is the case, then since it is seen that what is made exists, because the Dharma is dissimilar, those that are made become non-existent, so those that are permanent are meaningless. Thus, having completely abandoned the conditioned and the unconditioned, the clinging to self and the clinging to mine are completely abandoned, and therefore one is liberated from suffering. That which was said: Consciousness does not enter without a support, by the cessation of consciousness, the seed of existence will cease, when conditioned things do not exist. Like this, are these things the nature of things? It is said: It is like a dream. Here, from the point of view of convention, the nature of things is like a dream. Just as a dream is not transformed into the nature of existence, nor is it transformed into the nature of non-existence, nor is it without cause, so too are conventions and so forth existent. If, in reality, houses and so forth were transformed into the nature of existence, then even the absence of a wall would be perceived, because it exists. If it were transformed into the nature of non-existence, then even when it is made, it would not be perceived, because it does not exist. If it were transformed into the nature of both, then both the made and the unmade would be perceived. Since that is the case, there is no perception of both. It is also not without cause, because it is composed of grass and so forth. Therefore, the result is not existent, nor is the result non-existent, nor is the result existent and non-existent, nor is it without cause. Here it is said: If things are like a dream, then at that time, indicating a name will not cause any of the things to be understood, for example, here it is said, "a pot," then whether it is a child or a wise person, by the name "pot," they will understand the pot that has the name, and then they will take the pot and come, but the blanket...

It is not. Therefore, if someone says that by indicating the name, the thing exists, then to this it is said: The name is not the thing. Here, the name is not the thing. If the name becomes the thing, then when saying "vase," those two letters themselves would hold honey and water, etc., and would be able to drink. But that is not the case. Therefore, the name is different, and the thing is different. If the name becomes the thing, then which wise person would buy a vase from a potter for a price just because of a word? If the name becomes the thing, then at that time one thing would have three genders, or women, men, and hermaphrodites would be mixed up. Why? Because when saying "dada" (དྷ་དྷ་, Devanagari: दादा, Romanized Sanskrit: dada, Literal meaning: dada), it refers to a man; when saying "tani" (ཏ་ནི་, Devanagari: तनि, Romanized Sanskrit: tani, Literal meaning: tani), it refers to a woman; when saying "shariram" (ཤ་རི་རཾ་, Devanagari: शरीरं, Romanized Sanskrit: śarīraṃ, Literal meaning: body), it indicates a hermaphrodite. These three genders would apply to all living and non-living things. Therefore, if the name becomes the thing, one would become three. Therefore, if a man becomes a woman, a man, and a hermaphrodite, that is also undesirable. Therefore, the name is not the thing. Because the name is perceived by the ear, and the vase is perceived by the eyes, etc. If the name becomes the vase, then because of many names such as "ghata" (གྷ་ཌ་, Devanagari: घट, Romanized Sanskrit: ghaṭa, Literal meaning: pot), "kumbha" (ཀུམ་བྷ་, Devanagari: कुम्भ, Romanized Sanskrit: kumbha, Literal meaning: pot), and "kalasha" (ཀ་ལ་ཤ་, Devanagari: कलश, Romanized Sanskrit: kalaśa, Literal meaning: pot), the thing itself would become many. If by all these it is eliminated, then the name is not the thing. The Blessed One said: "The world is called just a name, like a name and a mirage. Just words, words are empty, like a harp, a clay drum, a drum, and an echo." Therefore, terms are like dreams. Therefore, it is not a thing. Here it is said: What is negated in this way, is it without inherent existence or not? If it is with inherent existence, then at that time the vow is broken. If it is without inherent existence, then at that time it cannot be negated, because it is without inherent existence. It is said: It is the same as what needs to be proven. Here, what is this negation that you speak of? Because it negates existence and non-existence, it is impossible. What is there to negate for something that does not need to be negated? Neg
