That which is to be refuted, the refutation, and the refuter are not possible in succession, nor are they simultaneous. For example, if there is nothing to be refuted, what is the refutation of? Similarly, if there is no refutation, how can there be something to be refuted? If these do not exist, how can there be a refuter? Without these, how can there be a refuter? Therefore, for the time being, it is not successive. That which is to be refuted, the refutation, and the refuter cannot exist simultaneously either, because for the horns of a cow that are born simultaneously, there is no that which is to be refuted, the refutation, and the refuter in relation to each other. Therefore, this statement is equivalent to needing to be established. In this way, one can completely abandon afflictions that have no basis. Furthermore, it is said: "The great self is attachment, Non-attachment is not, because it is without basis, If there is a basis, then attachment arises, And the proximity of non-attachment." The commentary on the "Hundred Letters," composed by the teacher, the noble Nagarjuna, is completed. Translated by the monk Youthful Wisdom in the incomparable city of Kashmir. Later, it was corrected by the Pandit Ananta and the translator Name Wise. The Commentary on the Hundred Letters, by the Noble Nagarjuna.
