Then, cause and effect arise simultaneously, which of these two is the cause? Which is the effect? Thus, it is not reasonable to be a cause in all three times. Here it is said that because numbers are reasonable, all things are not empty, because the numbers such as one, two, and many exist. Numbers are also reasonable if things exist, therefore all things are not empty. Here it is said that without one there is no many, and without many there is no one. Therefore, things arise dependently and are without characteristics. Because without one there is no many, and without many there is no one, therefore things arise dependently, and therefore they are without characteristics. Here it is said that in the Sutra Pitaka, dependent origination is also widely proclaimed as having the fruit of suffering, and the teachers who argue also explain one mind and different minds, therefore all things are not empty. Here it is said that which of the twelve links of dependent origination is the fruit of suffering, that is unborn. It is not reasonable for one mind, nor is it reasonable for many minds. Which of the twelve links of dependent origination is the fruit of suffering, that is unborn. It is not reasonable for one mind, nor is it reasonable for many minds, if according to one mind, the result will arise simultaneously with the cause. If according to different minds, then the previous link ceasing is not the cause of the subsequent link. Therefore, neither way is reasonable, so dependent origination is unborn. Why is it not born? Because, dependent origination is considered to arise from the cause of ignorance, and ignorance is also shown as the cause of perversion, and those perversions are also empty of self-nature. Why? Impermanence is not permanence, non-self is not self, impurity is not purity, suffering is not happiness, therefore there is no perversion. Impermanence is not permanence. If permanence does not exist, then impermanence, which is its antidote, also does not exist. Similarly, the remaining

Also apply to those. Therefore, the perverted views do not exist. If that does not exist, then the ignorance arising from the four perverted views does not exist. If that does not exist, then actions do not arise, and the rest are the same. If those perverted views do not exist, then the ignorance arising from that does not exist. If ignorance does not exist, then actions do not arise, and the rest are the same. Furthermore: Ignorance and action, if not non-existent, arise. If that does not exist, action does not arise. Those two are mutually causal, therefore, their own nature is not established. Whatever is not established by its own nature, how does it generate? Therefore, the other, the unestablished condition, does not generate the other. For the time being, ignorance does not arise without action. If that ignorance does not exist, actions also do not arise, because these two arise from mutual causes, therefore, their own nature is not established. If something is not established by its own nature, how does it generate other things? Therefore, those unestablished conditions of the other are not what generate other things. Furthermore: Father is not son, son is not father. Those two are not mutually non-existent, those two are also not one, like that are the twelve limbs. For the time being, the father is not the son, and the son is not the father. These two are also not mutually non-existent, and these two are also not simultaneous. Just as the father and son are not established in this order, the twelve limbs of dependent origination are also the same. Furthermore: Like in a dream, happiness and suffering depend on the object, and the object is also like non-existence, whatever arises depending on it, that is also non-existent, and what depends on it is also non-existent. For example, in a dream, the happiness and suffering that depend on the object do not exist, and just as the object is also not existent, so whatever arises depending on the object, and what depends on it, are also non-existent. Here it is said: If all things are empty of their own nature, then inferiority, equality, superiority, non-existence, and the variety of natures are not established, and there is no manifestation from causes. Therefore, things are empty of their own nature. This statement is not acceptable. Here it is said: Self-nature established dependent thing does not change, without dependence, how can it exist? Self-nature without nature does not change, self-nature with existence does not
