Because all the sutras of the Prajnaparamita categories are contained within this, it is also called the essence. On the other hand, among the teachings of the Thus-Gone One, this very Prajnaparamita is the most supreme, therefore it is called the essence. If the introduction is not stated, it is not known where and to whom it is taught, therefore the introduction is stated in order to show where and to whom it is taught. The phrase "Thus I have heard" refers to the meanings that will appear below, and with this, imputation and denigration are abandoned. The word "I" indicates that it was heard directly, showing that only the Dharma was heard directly, but the meaning was not realized. "Hearing" is a synonym for the ear faculty that is able to hear, held by the discriminating consciousness. The phrase "at one time" means hearing once, either in the morning or in the afternoon. The term "Bhagavan" means that he has abandoned the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and meditating. Where was it taught? Therefore, "Rajagriha" is mentioned, the characteristic of the city is that it is called Rajagriha. Since that city is very vast, it is impossible to determine where to reside, therefore "Vulture Peak Mountain" is mentioned, that mountain resembles the shape of a vulture. Because all afflictions are conquered, hence it is a Bhikshu. Because the opponents cannot shake it, hence it is the Sangha, great because of the large number and qualities. In order to place oneself in the unsurpassed Bodhi, hence it is a Bodhisattva. In order to place all sentient beings in the state of non-abiding Nirvana, hence it is a Mahasattva. Abiding is to be understood as abiding through conduct. These show when, by whom, where, and to whom it was taught. When was it taught? It was taught at one time. By whom was it taught? By the Bhagavan, which shows the perfection of the teacher. Where was it taught? At Rajagriha, Vulture Peak Mountain, which shows the perfection of the place. To whom was it taught? To the Bhikshus and Bodhisattvas, which shows the perfection of the retinue. This is Samadhi, if one has not entered Samadhi, then one cannot

Because things are not clearly understood, in order to clearly understand the objects of investigation, entering into samadhi is mentioned. "At that time" refers to the time when the Bhagavan was dwelling in Rajagriha. It is connected with entering into samadhi and so forth. If asked what kind of samadhi is entered, therefore the profound Dharma category is mentioned. Among them, because it holds its own and common characteristics, it is Dharma. The categories of these Dharmas are the aggregates of Dharma, which refer to the five aggregates, elements, and sources. Profound means that there is no birth or cessation, and it refers to the meaning of emptiness of inherent existence. If one enters into samadhi, one will realize that Dharmas such as aggregates have no birth or cessation. Therefore, the name of that samadhi is called the appearance of the profound Dharma category, and appearance refers to realization. Entering into samadhi is a synonym for constantly abiding in samadhi with one-pointed mind. This is to show the initiation of the topic. If the topic is not initiated, the language will be scattered and unrelated. In order to make the language related and not scattered, the initiation of the topic is mentioned. Again, "at that time" refers to the very time when the Bhagavan entered into samadhi in Rajagriha. It is connected with the noble Avalokiteshvara seeing the five aggregates as empty of inherent existence. Bodhi refers to the essence of the mind, which is the ultimate reality of suchness. The effort and striving to attain it is the Bodhisattva. The one who has abandoned the two obscurations is the noble one. Avalokiteshvara means that because he sees all sentient beings with compassion in a way that does not depend on the three types of compassion, he is Avalokiteshvara. Because he has attained the freedom to eliminate the suffering of sentient beings, he is the Lord. Regarding wisdom, there are three aspects of wisdom. Because it cuts off the demoness of the five aggregates, it is the sword of wisdom. Because it destroys the aggregates of suffering, it is also called the vajra of wisdom. Because it dispels the darkness of ignorance, it is also called the lamp of wisdom. In short, in all ways, with non-conceptual wisdom,
