The Extensive Commentary on the Heart of the Holy and Auspicious Prajñāpāramitā. Teacher's Name: Prashastrasena. The Extensive Commentary on the Heart of the Holy and Auspicious Prajñāpāramitā. Teacher's Name: Prashastrasena. In Sanskrit: Ārya Prajñāpāramitā Hṛdaya Ṭīkā. In Tibetan: The Extensive Commentary on the Heart of the Holy and Auspicious Prajñāpāramitā. Homage to youthful Mañjuśrī and Homage to the Holy Avalokiteśvara. In order to explain this sutra, it will be clarified through ten aspects: the name of prajñā, the introduction, the samāpatti, the questioning, entering into prajñā, the characteristics of prajñā, the field of prajñā, the qualities of prajñā, the result of prajñā, and the dhāraṇī of prajñā. This is the name of prajñā. If there is no name, things cannot be recognized, therefore, in order to focus on things, the name is mentioned. Therefore, it is called "The Heart of the Holy and Auspicious Prajñāpāramitā." The so-called "wisdom" is of three kinds: worldly, transmundane, and unsurpassed wisdom. Worldly wisdom is corrupted, perceiving impermanence as permanence, impurity as purity, suffering as happiness, and non-self as self. Transmundane wisdom is that which is known by śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas, that is, the absence of self in persons, knowing that conditioned phenomena are impermanent, conditioned phenomena are suffering, there is no self in persons, and peace is nirvāṇa. Unsurpassed wisdom is that which is known by the Tathāgatas, that is, knowing the absence of self in persons and dharmas, knowing the absence of characteristics, the absence of aspirations, and emptiness. This wisdom refers to unsurpassed wisdom. The so-called "holy" means that this wisdom is far removed from sorrow and suffering. The so-called "auspicious" refers to the most excellent wisdom of the world and beyond, that is, wisdom that is unsurpassed. The so-called "pāramitā" means that birth, death, and suffering are the near shore, nirvāṇa is the far shore, and sentient beings driven by the desires of saṃsāra are in the middle; this wisdom acts as a boat and raft, carrying beings from the near shore of saṃsāra to the far shore of nirvāṇa, therefore it is called "pāramitā." The so-called "heart" refers to the essence of wisdom.
