Self, and the three who abide because great compassion is their main characteristic, their sound means already abiding. Then, the Blessed One's abiding is when the Dharma was properly collected, he had already passed away. The distinction of appearing as "at one time" shows that the guide of beings who is devoted to great compassion abides in other times and places. Therefore, other followers of the Blessed One should also abide with the three, not with any actions. The appearance of the great Sangha of monks, etc., shows the gathering belonging to the listeners. Among them, because they have overcome afflictions, they are monks. Because they gather in large numbers, without distinction, they are the Sangha. The appearance of "great" is because of the majority, or because of wisdom and miraculous powers, etc. Similarly, the great Sangha of Bodhisattvas, great beings, is also, here too, three "greats" are used to indicate. Becoming the most excellent of all sentient beings, great in mind, great in renunciation, and great in realization. Together with them, it means "together." Because they are together in the act of abiding, it is the third distinction distinguished by the mark of togetherness. As for "belonging to the gathering," who is the one who belongs? Like that, the roots of virtue previously generated that fully ripen, which appear to be able to accomplish listening to the Dharma, etc., are the ones who belong, meaning they have the merit of listening to the Dharma, etc. In order to establish the self-characteristic, if one says that the place and time, and the retinue are free and have authority, then it will be understood that the speaker is reliable. Those who speak big words, I do not understand, if I go to those places and ask the witnesses, then

Later it was shown. For example, however, all sentient beings of the ten directions, as well as the merit of learners, non-learners, and solitary realizers, etc. Some are arranged in order from the bottom. Some are arranged in order from the top, such as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Others are because the retinue is permanent, so the retinue of monks is mentioned first. Because it is not permanent, the retinue of Bodhisattvas is mentioned later. What is permanent should be said first, and what is other than that is later, this statement is not reasonable. In order to explain the beginning by which this entering beginning is shown, "at that time" etc. were said. At that time, it showed that the roots of virtue of the retinue were fully matured. Because the time when the Bhagavan entered samadhi was at that time, it is said "at that time". The Bhagavan is the knower of time. Dharma is the aggregates etc., it is considered to hold its own characteristics. Completely, entirely, all, also because of this, it is understood, realized, and known, so it is called the category of Dharma. Profound is emptiness etc. Wherever, in whatever way it appears, in order, relying on one's own and others' continuums, that is the profound appearance. Thus it is said: Profound emptiness etc., cutting off the extremes of addition and slander, being free from is the profound nature. Thus it is shown, cutting off the extremes of addition and slander, also transcending the extremes of existence and non-existence. Therefore, in the presence of the teacher Nagarjuna, it is said: Whoever from the wisdom of existence and non-existence, completely transcends and does not abide, those profound without object, from the meaning of dependent origination, truly cultivate. Thus it is shown. Samadhi is the nature of one-pointedness of mind. In order to truly abide, abiding in its nature is entering into samadhi. Like this, all the deeds of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are mainly for the benefit of others. Therefore, the Bhagavan enters into this samadhi, in order to make the mind stream of all the retinue conform to the meaning of samadhi, how

Therefore, beings whose respective continuums are fully ripened will be born, and this should be understood accordingly. The Bhagavan's knowledge without afflictions is also taken as a source here. The absence of afflictions for the Shravakas is that if they see me, people will completely abandon their afflictions. The absence of afflictions for the Buddhas is that they sever the stream of those afflictions in towns and so forth. In order to show this meaning from below, it is also said, "Again, at that time," and so on. "At that time" refers to the time when the Bhagavan entered into meditative absorption. Moreover, the word "again" is for the purpose of certainty, therefore it means "only that." Alternatively, "again" is for the purpose of summarizing, showing the act of entering into absorption, and summarizing the act of viewing that will appear below. For this explanation, only the time when the roots of virtue of the retinue are fully ripened should be grasped. If so, then the summary will be reasonable, otherwise not. The Bodhisattva here is for the sake of Bodhi, or Bodhi itself is the nature of mind, therefore it is a Bodhisattva. Since he is one who has entered the state of Buddhahood, then for those who have received empowerment, the latter definitive term is appropriate. So, what is this Bodhi? This Bodhi is the nature of space, because all conceptualizations have been abandoned. Thus it is said: Even from the complete enlightenment of Vairochana, Bodhi is the nature of space, having abandoned all conceptualizations. Whoever wishes to realize it is a Bodhisattva, and he should be called that. It shows the three qualities of being the best of all sentient beings, having a great mind, etc. And also, due to the greatness of the great Paramita that dwells on the great earth, this Bodhisattva is great, therefore he is a Mahasattva. As it is said in the Compendium in Verse: Great in giving, great in wisdom, and great in power, having entered the supreme Great Vehicle of the Victorious Ones, having donned great armor and subdued the illusions of Mara, therefore he is rightly called a Great Bodhisattva. Thus it is said. Having gone far away from sinful, unwholesome dharmas, therefore he is noble. Whoever gazes with compassionate eyes, then...
