It is explained that just as a king makes offerings for certain lands, and ultimately obtaining those lands is the fruit, similarly, relying on the Prajnaparamita is for the sake of being free from perversion and attaining realization. In order to show that the Prajnaparamita itself is the mantra, it is said, "Shariputra, therefore," and so on. The nature of the Prajnaparamita has been explained. Mantra is because it is knowledge and because it is protection. These two meanings are clarified by the following words. Great is because it has pervasiveness. Pervasiveness is also divided into pervasiveness in time and pervasiveness in place. Like this, this is what enters without reversing from all dharmas and all times. This is what is specifically pointed out from the mantras made by Ishvara and others. As it is said in the 'Vairochana Abhisambodhi Sutra': "Far beyond the three times, it is existence arising from conditions, seeing and not seeing is the fruit, it exists in mind, speech, and body, the number of fruits is one kalpa, the world says it is, the fruit of mantra exceeds kalpas, the fully enlightened Buddha said, Buddha, great sage, and prince, samadhi is free from characteristics and pure, the world is stained with characteristics, the ripening result is also here, all actions can obtain their fruit, when the accomplishment is obtained, at that time all actions can be reversed, the nature of mind is without self-nature, the fruit is far from all causes, among the births of actions, birth is like space, without support." This refers to the wisdom obtained through knowing and understanding or the fulfillment of wishes. This is both wisdom and great, so it is great wisdom. Great wisdom itself is mantra, so it is the mantra of great wisdom. Therefore, since there is no higher than this supremely excellent lama, it is the unsurpassed mantra. There is nothing equal or similar to this, so it is unequal, that is space. Because it is equal to that, it is equal to the unequal. In the Bodhisattva Pitaka it is also said, equal to the unequal.

These words were spoken by the Blessed One (bcom ldan 'das, Sanskrit: Bhagavan, Sanskrit Romanization: Bhagavat, literal Chinese meaning: World Honored One) himself. It is also said in the 'Display of the Inconceivable Secret of the Tathagata': If some analogies are made for the Buddha's teachings, that is not in accordance with the Buddha, that is slandering the Victorious One. What can be compared to the Buddha's teachings? There is only one analogy for that, which is shown in the realm of space, whose measure is that there is nothing that can measure it. And so on. Being equal to space, this should be seen as pervasive, unobstructed, and continuous. These show the meaning of wisdom. In order to show the meaning of protection, it is said "all suffering" and so on. That is, formations and changes, and the suffering of suffering itself, etc., all the sufferings of characteristics are completely pacified, that is, cut off, this is the secret mantra that completely pacifies all suffering. Thus, after showing the definitive meaning of the secret mantra, in order to show the definitive meaning of what should be spoken secretly, it is said "true, because it is not inverted" and so on. Truth is suchness, because it is the correct view as it is. What is the correct view as it is? That is non-inversion. Therefore, this should be regarded as the mantra of the Perfection of Wisdom. This shows that, just as for a person with dull faculties, things that cannot be seen as they are by showing them are shown secretly, they should also receive the Perfection of Wisdom as a secret mantra as it is. The secret mantra is what should be spoken secretly, this definitive meaning should rely on this kind of meaning. Or, remembering is protection, therefore it is a secret mantra. This means that the Perfection of Wisdom should be remembered continuously with reverence. Because it is reasonable with reason, it should be understood with reason, and it must be received with certainty. The "thus" etc. that appear in this way should be learned in the manner that has been said. The "after" etc. that appear are the intervals at this time. Emerging from that samadhi is from what was shown earlier. The "rising" etc. that appear is after the mind has let go.

English

It is also in accordance with giving "well done" to the speaker and what is said. The nature of giving "well done" is, "Son of good family, well done! Well done!" This appears. Repeating it twice is for the meaning of joy or because of great joy. By "It is so," etc., one agrees with what is said. It is so, and not otherwise. Why is that? Because it was said, "One should train in the Perfection of Wisdom," and so on. What is it like? It was said, "Just as you have shown." Its meaning is that one should train without contradicting what you have shown. Thus, after the Blessed One showed his agreement with what the noble Avalokiteśvara taught, in order to show that other Tathāgatas also greatly rejoice in what you have shown, he said, "The Tathāgatas also rejoice." To rejoice is to be sure that it is necessary to do without doubt. The Tathāgatas undoubtedly rejoice in such teachings. These two, agreement and rejoicing, also show that the Tathāgata is worthy of greatly rejoicing in this teaching. For that very reason, the Blessed One said, "Having said that." "Having said that" appears from the beginning of Śāriputra's question up to "The Tathāgatas also rejoice." "Having said" appears as the Blessed One having said it. Although the noble Avalokiteśvara is explaining it here, it is actually the word of the Tathāgata himself. Like this, after the Tathāgata has blessed it, everything that the Śrāvakas and others explain is also the word of the Tathāgata. What need is there to mention the teachings of the noble Avalokiteśvara, Samantabhadra, Mañjuśrī, and others who have truly entered Buddhahood? I have already explained the meaning of this. "Rejoicing" appears because it is to be spoken of in the hundred thousand verses.
