Because this Dharma is of great significance, the Bodhisattva fully demonstrates how to abide in the teaching of such a great Dharma with aspiration and prayer, without being seized by demons. Although it has been said, in order to show how to speak without becoming completely afflicted, it is said, "How to truly and thoroughly show," and so on. The meaning is this: Although it is said that all Dharmas are shown to be unborn and inexpressible in the ultimate sense, these Dharmas are not taught with the nature of inexpressibility. That is to say: How does the person to be tamed think that all Dharmas, from patience onwards, are unborn and therefore inexpressible? Therefore, those Dharmas are not something to be shown by anyone. This is how it is shown. In this way, it is shown without being afflicted, because it is the meaning of non-reversal. If it is not so, it will be shown in a reversed way and become afflicted. Therefore, when the Tathagata teaches the Dharma, entering the pure worldly wisdom, although the notion of appearing as Dharma arises universally, there is no attachment to it as the only truth, so it does not become a fault of affliction. This shows the samadhi in yoga and the complete concentration and depth of mind. The former shows the vastness. That is, it completely establishes all the bodies of the Prajnaparamita, and the verses show that there is no complete affliction of samsara. This verse fully shows the four characteristics of conditioned phenomena: the characteristic of nature, the characteristic of the object of taste, the characteristic of perceiving faults, and the characteristic of perceiving definite liberation. Among them, how the nature of the five aggregates appears is dependent origination, because it is made by the gathering of causes and conditions, so it is called conditioned phenomena. The nature of all those should be viewed like stars, just as stars appear at night but not during the day, so too conditioned phenomena appear when there is the darkness of the fault of ignorance, but do not appear when the light of the sun of wisdom arises, so it is a nature like stars.

One should observe in this way. Regarding the observation of beings and phenomena, conditioned phenomena that manifest as clinging to inherent existence should be observed like a cataract due to the cause of meaningless appearances. The characteristic of consciousness is that it blazes by relying on the wick of karma and the oil of craving, so it should be observed like a lamp. Thus, these examples fully demonstrate the characteristic nature of conditioned phenomena. The example of illusion fully demonstrates the nature of the realm of tasting flavors, because it is the appearance of a mistaken aspect. Among these, the characteristic of realizing faults is twofold, which is the nature of conditioned phenomena: realizing impermanence and realizing suffering. The example of dew shows the realization of impermanence, because it does not remain for long. The example of a water bubble shows the realization of suffering, because feelings are like water bubbles in water, and whatever feeling it may be, it is said here to be suffering. All feelings should be recognized as suffering through the three kinds of suffering. Among these, the feeling of suffering is suffering due to suffering. Whatever formations are in accordance with this are also suffering in accordance with this. The feeling of happiness is suffering due to the suffering of change. Whatever phenomena are in accordance with this are also suffering in accordance with this. Feelings that are neither suffering nor happiness, and objects that are in accordance with this, are suffering due to the nature of the arising and ceasing of the suffering of formations. Therefore, all conditioned phenomena should be seen as possessing suffering. Among these, the characteristic of realizing renunciation is the realization that beings and phenomena are empty. Through that object, one renounces, and the Bhagavan taught two objects of renunciation. As it is said in the Noble Samadhiraja Sutra: If one contemplates the selflessness of all phenomena, having analyzed them and then meditated, that is the cause for obtaining the fruit of Nirvana. What other cause is there that can pacify? Thus it is taught. All conditioned phenomena possess two kinds of selflessness, namely, the past, the present, and the future.
