It is said that all those that arise include both of these. Now, it is spoken as a temporary measure for the sake of the teachings. Then, the Blessed One spoke to the venerable Subhuti. Among them, most are coming. Why is it that he speaks to only one? Because it is extracted from the beginnings of the great ones. 'The Tathagata dwells before me and teaches the Dharma. The Tathagata dwells before me and teaches the Dharma,' this is contradictory. Because all are gathered there, the Tathagata is manifestly directed towards me alone. Starting from worldly people, one thinks that he is teaching the Dharma. If the Blessed One speaks to only one in the midst of all, how will the minds of the retinue not become contradictory? Here it is said, if the Tathagata, starting from all, manifestly directs towards all and teaches, then the moment of speaking to the venerable Subhuti is also the moment of speaking to all. To all, he also teaches various things in various ways, but because the compilers are not able to compile in that order, they abandon the knowledge of stable arrogance, grasp one order that is suitable for all beings, and correctly compile. The Tathagata teaches starting from Subhuti. This very method is also approved by the Tathagata, and for the sake of the holy Dharma abiding for a long time, it is said that the compilers teach in this very way. Even so, when teaching the Bodhisattva Vehicle, why does he speak only to Subhuti, abandoning the supreme teachings of the Bodhisattvas? This temporary practice should be accepted, because the teachings of the Prajnaparamita are taught in common, and are not established only for the benefit of the Bodhisattvas. Why? Because when teaching the Prajnaparamita, one speaks of all-aspects of knowledge, path knowledge, and all knowledge.

It is for entering the three doors. If the teaching of the Blessed One were to become temporary by being declared to a single Bodhisattva, then at that time, the assembly would not be satisfied, thinking, "This is profound and not suitable for us." Because others would think that the temporary teaching, starting from Subhuti, is common to all and not very profound, therefore it is made temporary starting from Subhuti himself. For example, where the Dharma's realization will be separately heard and explained to the monks and other retinues. However, even so, why is it not reasonable for the venerable Subhuti to make the transition from what has been done to the teaching that has great meaning? This is not a fault, because the venerable Subhuti is a great Bodhisattva, and the fame of being called "one who has forbearance for the profound" is proclaimed in the accumulation of merit and wisdom for countless kalpas, which is from the commentary on the Twenty Thousand. Therefore, he is a venerable one, not one who has done the work, but in every way abandoning all afflictions and obscurations of knowledge, there is only action for him, because he is a great Bodhisattva. Therefore, starting from this, making the teaching temporary is like "there," etc. "There" means that this seventh exists,
