The meaning is like this. Subhuti, in addition, it is merely saying suffering, and there is no manifest attachment to name and characteristics. This is to say that in this way, showing the dharmas to sentient beings through name and characteristics is also merely for the sake of understanding the suffering of samsara, and not clinging to it as real, without attachment. This is what is to be shown. Subhuti, the Tathagata or the Shravaka of the Tathagata will not become manifestly attached to name and characteristics, etc. This is to show that there is no place for manifest attachment, and it is impossible. Even emptiness will not become manifestly attached to emptiness, etc. This is to show an example of the impossibility of manifest attachment, that is, the object of attachment and the agent of attachment, both of which are not real in the ultimate sense. This is the concluding remark. Request, World Honored One, if all these conditioned dharmas are only name and characteristics, etc., then all dharmas are empty of self-nature in the ultimate sense. If there is no reality, then what is to be accomplished and the agent of accomplishment also have no self-nature. For what purpose does the Bodhisattva generate Bodhicitta and then practice the Bodhisattva conduct? This is the question raised after careful consideration. The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, you said, if all conditioned dharmas are only name and characteristics, etc. This is the World Honored One repeating the words asked by Subhuti, and then answering that in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are empty of self-nature. For dharmas that have no reality, sentient beings cling to them as real and act in various ways. In order to correct these, the Bodhisattva conduct is also practiced in the conventional sense, and even all-knowing wisdom is attained, and then the wheel of Dharma is turned, etc., doing things that benefit sentient beings. This is what is to be shown. Request, World Honored One, is all-knowing wisdom spoken of? This is to say that in this way, all dharmas are empty of self-nature, and there are no name and characteristics, then speaking of all-knowing wisdom, what can be established? This is what is asked. The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, all-knowing wisdom, all-knowing wisdom

The so-called "saying" means: Thus, from the ultimate point of view, all dharmas are empty in nature, and names and characteristics cannot be established, and they cannot be spoken; but from the conventional point of view, they are spoken to guide sentient beings. This is what is to be expressed. Question: World Honored One, the "all-knowing" and so on mentioned by the Tathagata are questions raised to explain in detail what are the differences between "all-knowing", "knowledge of aspects of the path" and "knowledge of all kinds". The World Honored One taught: Subhuti, the so-called "all-knowing" refers to Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. And so on, this is a brief distinction and explanation of the three all-knowing. Question: World Honored One, why is "all-knowing" said to Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? And so on, this is a question raised to explain in detail the three kinds of wisdom that were briefly distinguished and explained earlier, with reasons attached. The World Honored One taught: All internal and external dharmas are known by Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. This means that Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, through the gate of the Four Noble Truths, know all internal and external dharmas, that is, "all conditioned dharmas are impermanent, all contaminated dharmas are painful, and all dharmas are selfless." In this way, knowing all dharmas is called "all-knowing." "Not all paths" means: Bodhisattvas abide in the ten bhumis of the Bodhisattva path, and they do not know all dharmas like them. This is its meaning. Subhuti, all paths should be practiced by Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. And so on, this explains the knowledge of the aspects of the path of Bodhisattvas. Bodhisattvas, from the initial generation of the mind, from the ground of adhimukticarya to the complete ten bhumis, through the suchness of the seeing path and the cultivation path, in a pure order, become the cause of obtaining unsurpassed complete enlightenment, so that wisdom reaches the realm of all kinds of knowledge, this is not Sravakas and
