Therefore, realizing that all phenomena are of one taste in the nature of emptiness, it means purifying all the signs of the activities of demons. Why is that? Like this, because it does not waver at the limit of reality, it does not truly see one or two at the limit of reality. Knowing this, even if he dies, he will not generate thoughts in the place of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. This shows the reason why the activities of demons connect all dharmas to the limit of reality. In the ultimate sense, if one realizes that all dharmas are the nature of the limit of reality, then whether it is a demon or not a demon, whether it is regressing or not regressing, the place of a Bodhisattva, or the signs of the place of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are not truly seen, so it is shown that one will never regress to the place of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Why is that? Subhuti, like this, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, in the emptiness of all dharmas' own characteristics, does not truly see the arising, ceasing, defilement, or purification of any dharma. This shows the reason why a non-regressing Bodhisattva, even if he dies, does not generate thoughts in the place of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. In the ultimate sense, because all dharmas are realized to be empty of their own characteristics, there is no real thing seen in the dharmas of death and birth, defilement and purification, so there is no regression and fall to the place of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. This is the meaning. Subhuti, even if that Bodhisattva Mahasattva dies, he does not think, 'I will not be able to realize the unexcelled perfect enlightenment.' But without a doubt, he thinks, 'I will definitely realize the unexcelled perfect enlightenment.' This shows that a non-regressing Bodhisattva remembers past and future lives, and because the mind of enlightenment does not diminish, he will definitely realize the unexcelled perfect enlightenment. Why is that? Subhuti, like this, the unexcelled perfect enlightenment is empty of its own characteristics.

The term "emptiness" refers to the fact that the bodhisattva realizes that all phenomena are empty of their own nature and attains tolerance of the unborn dharma. Because he realizes that even the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment is empty of its own nature, he will definitely manifest the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. This is the meaning. Subhuti, the bodhisattva mahasattva who abides in his own ground is one who cannot be overcome in his own ground. This means that he will definitely manifest unsurpassed enlightenment in this way, and that demons and heretics will not be able to change him. Why is that? Subhuti, it is because the bodhisattva mahasattva who does not turn back abides in this way and possesses irretrievable wisdom. This is the reason why he cannot be overcome in his own ground. The wisdom of that bodhisattva realizes that all phenomena are empty of their own nature, and therefore it cannot be overcome or taken away by opposing forces. Subhuti, if an evil demon comes near to a non-returning bodhisattva mahasattva in the guise of a Buddha, and so on, until he is prophesied to attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, this passage clearly shows that the non-returning bodhisattva abides in his own ground and cannot be overcome, and that he possesses irretrievable wisdom and cannot be deceived by demons. Why is that? It is because one should know that it is because of possessing which dharma that a bodhisattva mahasattva will be prophesied to attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, and that I possess those dharmas. This sentence states the reason why one cannot be deceived by demons. Because in the ultimate truth, he realizes that all phenomena are empty of their own nature, and in the conventional truth, he also possesses the signs and characteristics mentioned above that manifest as a non-returning bodhisattva, he will definitely be prophesied to attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment.

English

The meaning is like that. Subhuti, if an evil demon or someone blessed by a demon, from "Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas are known to abide in the irreversible stage" to "should be known," this also explains that irreversible Bodhisattvas abide in their own realm, possessing invincible and unseizable wisdom. Demons will prophesy that they will attain the fruits of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and denigrate the Mahayana sutras, clearly revealing it with irrefutable words. Why is that? Because "those aspects, those ways, those characteristics of irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas are on him" shows the reason why demons cannot deceive. Because the Bodhisattva has the aforementioned signs of irreversibility, demons cannot deceive him. Subhuti, furthermore, when Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas practice Prajnaparamita, in order to uphold the sacred Dharma, they even give up themselves, and even if their lives end, they would rather endure it and not give up, from "they will also uphold those sacred Dharmas" to "they will think like this," this shows that in order to uphold the sacred Dharma, they do not even spare their lives, and are irreversible Bodhisattvas. Then, for the sake of what Dharma do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas give up themselves, and even if their lives end, they would rather endure? From "Subhuti, for that Dharma, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas give up themselves, and even if their lives end, they do not give up" to "Subhuti," this shows the target of not giving up the sacred Dharma even for the sake of life. For example, Prajnaparamita is so profound in meaning, it proclaims that all Dharmas are empty, it is difficult for all beings in the world to believe, and when foolish people hear it, they will say "this is not Dharma, this is not Vinaya, this is not the Buddha's teaching," thereby slandering and denigrating such a Dharma.
