This is the teaching, the Dharma of the Tathagata's unsurpassed Bodhi is profound and difficult to see, so that no one can directly realize it. Therefore, the Blessed One remained silent, and it was necessary for Indra and others to urge the turning of the wheel of Dharma. The meaning of the words 'profound and difficult to see' and so on is as previously explained. The so-called 'no one can directly realize Buddhahood' means that unsurpassed Bodhi is without substance in ultimate truth, so no one can realize it. The so-called 'never directly realized Buddhahood' means that such a non-substantial Dharma has not been realized in the past, is not realized now, and will not be realized in the future. The so-called 'nowhere is Buddhahood directly realized' means that such a non-substantial Dharma will not be realized anywhere in the three realms. The so-called 'where there is no dualistic wandering, that is the profundity of all Dharmas' means to clearly explain the meaning of the previously mentioned unsurpassed Bodhi being profound and difficult to see, that is, for unsurpassed Bodhi, there is no conceptualization of the one who realizes and the object to be realized, and that is its profundity. Sons of the gods, because the sky is profound, this Dharma is profound, etc., this is to explain the reason and metaphor of the profound nature of Prajnaparamita, the self-nature of unsurpassed Bodhi. From 'because the sky is profound, this Dharma is profound' to 'sons of the gods, because there is no manifestation and no perfect enlightenment, this Dharma is profound,' just as unconditioned Dharmas such as the sky are without substance, no one can directly realize them and they are profound, so too is the Dharma of Prajnaparamita, the self-nature of unsurpassed Bodhi, profound. Sons of the gods, because the self is profound, this Dharma is profound, until sons of the gods, because the seer is profound, this Dharma is profound, refers to the fact that the self, which is perversely grasped by non-Buddhists, does not truly exist, so no one can directly

Therefore, just as it is profound, so too is this Dharma of the Perfection of Wisdom, the essence of unsurpassed Bodhi, profound, as it is taught. From the statement, "O sons of the gods, this Dharma is profound because form is profound," to the statement, "O sons of the gods, this Dharma is profound because all-knowingness is profound," it means that all phenomena, including form, are inherently empty in ultimate reality. Because no one can truly grasp that the nature of these phenomena is just this, the Dharma of the Perfection of Wisdom, the essence of unsurpassed Bodhi, is also profound. The sons of the gods then requested, "O Blessed One, this Dharma that is taught, which is difficult for all the world to believe, is truly wondrous!" This is because the sons of the gods were pleased by the previous teaching that the Perfection of Wisdom is profound. They praised the Blessed One, saying that teaching such a profound Dharma is very rare and truly wondrous. Why is that? "O Blessed One, this is not taught for the sake of grasping form, nor is it taught for the sake of not grasping it," and so on, up to "All-knowingness is not taught for the sake of grasping it, nor is it taught for the sake of not grasping it." This explains the reason why the Dharma of the Perfection of Wisdom is difficult for all the world to believe and is profound. Because all phenomena, including form, are not established as truly existing in ultimate reality, it is not taught as something that can be grasped as a real entity or characteristic, saying, "This is form." Nor is it asserted that it is merely an illusion in conventional reality, thus denying everything. It is also not taught to cause attachment to the extreme of non-existence. Therefore, the sons of the gods requested, "This Dharma is profound." "O Blessed One, the world thinks, 'The world is my form,' and 'I am one who possesses form,'" and so on, up to "'I am all-knowingness,' and 'I will become all-knowingness,'" and they act with such clinging. This explains the reason why all the world does not believe in the profound Dharma. Because worldly people do not understand the emptiness of the nature of all phenomena, they cling to phenomena as "self" and "mine." Therefore, the Perfection of Wisdom...

This is to show that faith arises in this profound Prajnaparamita. The Blessed One said: Gods, it is so, it is so. Gods, this Dharma is not taught for the sake of grasping form, nor is it not for the sake of not grasping, up to and including all-knowingness is taught for the sake of grasping, nor is it taught for the sake of not grasping. Wherever, gods, because this Prajnaparamita is not taught for the sake of adding or slandering all dharmas such as form, in order to show that it is difficult for all the world to believe and is profound, as a wonderful reason, all dharmas such as form are not taught for the sake of grasping, nor are they not taught for the sake of not grasping. The Blessed One repeated these words of supplication and declared that it was true. Gods, whether it is for the sake of grasping form, or for the sake of not grasping and practicing, etc., up to and including the inability to cultivate all-knowingness, it is said that if one practices by clinging to the extremes of existence and non-existence in the manner of adding or slandering all dharmas such as form, then without understanding the Dharma nature of the dharmas, one cannot cultivate the pure dharmas such as the six perfections in a three-circle pure manner. This is to show the fault of clinging to the extremes of existence and non-existence. Then, the venerable Subhuti asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, this Dharma is in accordance with all Dharmas, up to and including this is in accordance with all-knowingness.
