It is shown that there is no complete dedication with the concept of focusing on self-nature. Kausika! Furthermore, has the Bodhisattva Mahasattva truly shown others the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment? From "If so, the son or daughter of a noble family has completely abandoned all extremes of attachment" in between, it shows that one should not be attached to the profound Prajnaparamita, and it shows the method of teaching and encouraging others without attachment when teaching the Dharma to others. When practicing the pure Dharmas up to the six perfections and all omniscience, one should never generate the thought that "I am practicing these Dharmas," but should truly show, encourage, delight, and gladden others. Among them, truly showing means truly showing the correct and unerring path to those who do not understand the path to enter unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. Truly encouraging means transforming and correcting those who have entered the wrong path. Truly making them happy means giving praise and encouragement to those who do not expect to attain unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment and are discouraged, making them happy. Truly making them joyful means praising and extolling those who have truly entered unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, making them joyful. "With a mind that follows the right path" means the meaning of showing others with a mind without object and attachment to characteristics. "There will be no fault, and truly encouraging with the truly encouraging allowed by the Buddha" means that in this way, when practicing pure Dharmas, if one does not generate the thought of practicing these Dharmas, and teaches the Dharma to others, there will be no fault, and it is the meaning of truly showing and encouraging in accordance with the teachings of the Buddha Bhagavan. If so, the son or daughter of a noble family has completely abandoned all extremes of attachment.

The reason for saying this is that if it is correctly shown in the manner mentioned above, it can completely avoid the faults of clinging to characteristics and signs, as well as the faults of clinging to the extremes of existence and non-existence. This is what is to be shown. Then, the Blessed One said "Well done" to the Venerable Subhuti, "Subhuti, it is well done, well done, that you thus show the aspects of attachment to the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas." This is to show that the Blessed One rejoiced and said "Well done" in order to make the retinue firmly believe in the meaning of non-attachment previously shown by Subhuti. Subhuti, therefore, you should show even more subtle aspects of attachment than what you have shown. Taking to mind the signs of the Tathagata and so on is also the attachment of the Bodhisattva. It is deeper and more subtle than the attachment mentioned above. Now I will speak, please listen. Subhuti, here, if a son or daughter of good family has entered into unexcelled, perfect enlightenment, and even for all the roots of virtue of the Hearers of the Tathagata and other sentient beings who are not Hearers, they grasp at the characteristics and dedicate them to unexcelled, perfect enlightenment, Subhuti, to the extent that they grasp at the characteristics, to that extent there is attachment. This passage speaks of grasping at the characteristics and taking to mind the qualities, signs, and marks of the Tathagatas, and dedicating to unexcelled, perfect enlightenment by taking to mind the roots of virtue of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones of the three times, and grasping at the roots of virtue of the noble Hearers and ordinary beings, and dedicating them to unexcelled enlightenment. These are the attachments of the Bodhisattva. This is what is to be shown. Why is that? Because the Tathagatas are not to be taken to mind by characteristics, and the roots of virtue of the Tathagatas are also not to be taken to mind by characteristics. This shows the reason why one should not grasp at characteristics.

The Tathagatas, and the roots of virtue of the Tathagatas, etc., are not established as truly existent in the ultimate sense, so it is taught that one should not focus on characteristics. Question: World Honored One, the Prajnaparamita is profound! This is because the Venerable Subhuti realized the profound meaning of what was said above, that all focusing on characteristics is attachment. In order for all the retinue to also believe that the Prajnaparamita is profound, he asked, "The Prajnaparamita is profound!" The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, it is because all dharmas are naturally distinct. This means that in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, so there is no attachment or defilement from faults such as clinging to characteristics. It is completely pure and solitary, therefore it is the meaning of profound. Question: World Honored One, I prostrate to the Prajnaparamita! This is because the Venerable Subhuti developed faith in the profound meaning of the Prajnaparamita spoken by the World Honored One, and in order to generate purity in other retinues as well, he showed the generation of respect and service. The World Honored One said: Subhuti, it is like this, the Prajnaparamita is not made, not manifestly assembled. This means that in the ultimate sense, the Prajnaparamita is empty of inherent existence, so it is not made or produced by any cause or condition. And with things of merit and non-merit, there is no manifest accumulation or transformation for complete purity and impurity. Therefore, no one can attain enlightenment. This means that the Buddha who can attain enlightenment, as well as the Bodhisattva, and the Prajnaparamita itself to be attained, are also empty of inherent existence, so there is neither knower nor known. Therefore, it is said that no one can attain enlightenment. Question: World Honored One, all dharmas have not attained enlightenment! This is not only that the Prajnaparamita cannot attain enlightenment, but also that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence in the ultimate sense, so the knower
