Oṃ! The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, because of the abiding of the element of reality, the perfection of wisdom does not benefit or harm omniscience, because both the perfection of wisdom and omniscience are of one taste in the ultimate sense, in the nature of the element of reality. They are not different, and the nature of the element of reality is the unchanging, completely perfect essence, so there is no room for benefit or harm. This is what is being shown. This also shows that this perfection of wisdom is profound and difficult to believe by showing the characteristic of being pure and without benefit or harm. Asked: Blessed One, is the purity of the perfection of wisdom that there is no taking up of any dharma? This is because the perfection of wisdom, which is ultimately non-conceptual, is without substance and extremely pure, so it is not in its nature to conceptualize or grasp at characteristics of any dharma. This is what is being shown. The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, because of being extremely pure. This means that the perfection of wisdom, which is non-conceptual, is not tainted by the faults of both grasping and being grasped, and because it is extremely pure, there is no taking up of any dharma. This is what is being shown. Asked: Blessed One, how is it that the purity of the perfection of wisdom is such that there is no taking up of any dharma? Shariputra asked the Blessed One about the meaning of what was said earlier in order to make the retinue rely on it and develop faith. The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, because the element of reality is unmoving, the purity of the perfection of wisdom is such that there is no taking up of any dharma. This means that the purity of the perfection of wisdom, which is non-conceptual, is the unchanging, completely perfect nature of the element of reality, so there is no conceptualizing or grasping at characteristics of any dharma such as form, and from the point of view of being unmoving, that is the reason. This also, through the point of view of not taking up, the perfection of wisdo

This chapter explains the profound and difficult-to-believe meaning. Then, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, for the sake of my complete purification, form is completely pure..." He asked: "Blessed One, for what reason is the complete purification of all aspects of omniscience completely pure because of my complete purification?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, because of the emptiness of its own nature." In between, it is shown that this Prajnaparamita is profound and difficult to believe by showing that the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena are completely pure. Just as the self conceived by non-Buddhists is not established as existing even conventionally, similarly, all phenomena, from form and so on up to all aspects of omniscience, are not truly existent in the ultimate sense. Thus, the non-substantiality of all phenomena is extremely pure, as explained. Here, from form and so on up to the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, at the end of the sentence, the reason for extreme purity is stated: because of selflessness, the absence of the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha is extreme purity. From the fruit of stream-entry onwards up to all aspects of omniscience, the reason for extreme purity is stated: because of the emptiness of its own nature. This is to eliminate some who cling to self-nature, such as Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Because the self-nature of both persons and phenomena is not established, because of emptiness, the complete purification of the fruit of stream-entry and so on, and the complete purification of phenomena, are explained. He asked: "Blessed One, is non-duality and complete purity not to be attained? Is it not to be realized?" In between, the Blessed One said: "Because there is no complete affliction and no complete purification." In between, all phenomena are naturally pure in the ultimate sense, and likewise, because they are of one taste, there is no complete affliction in the beginning, and there is no transformation into complete purity later. Thus, affliction and
