O Earth Store Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, if one wishes to perfect the path of the Buddha, then will he also realize Suchness? If the wisdom that understands the nature of the path does not realize Suchness, then one will also not attain Buddhahood. If one attains Buddhahood, then one will also realize Suchness, which contradicts what was said earlier. The Blessed One taught: Subhuti! Without perfecting the pure Buddha-field, etc., perfecting the pure Buddha-field and maturing sentient beings, etc., after all the practices of the Bodhisattva are perfected, there is no fault in realizing Suchness. If one does not do so, like the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, one will not realize Suchness midway. Asked: Blessed One, what is it? Does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide in the path and realize Suchness? The path, etc., is asked in order to show the meaning that Suchness cannot be realized in the ultimate sense. Abiding in the path means relying on the path of seeing and the path of meditation of the Hearers and Bodhisattvas, can one realize Suchness? The Blessed One taught: It is not so. In the ultimate sense, both of these paths are without substance, because there is no basis or place to abide, so it is not so. Then, does one abide in the non-path? This is asking whether one abides in the path that is the opposite of the two paths mentioned above? It is not so. If the path is substantial, then the non-path can also be established through opposition. If the path is not substantial, then the non-path established through opposition is also not substantial. Therefore, one cannot realize Suchness through it either. Then, does one abide in both the path and the non-path? This is asking whether one abides in both the path and the non-path and can realize Suchness? It is not so. Both the path and the non-path are not established in the ultimate sense, therefore, abiding in the nature of both cannot realize Suchness, this is a concluding statement. Asked.

O, then, it is not the path either. And abiding in what is not the path either, can one manifest the ultimate reality as the path? Thus he asked. The answer is "No," because the two, the path and what is not the path, are not established. Since the two, neither of them, are not established, it is said that it is not so either. The question, "O Blessed One, how then does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva manifest the ultimate reality?" is asked in order to open the door to explaining the manifestation of the ultimate reality without abiding in anything. "Subhuti, what do you think?" etc., is the question asked by the Blessed One in order to subdue those who have signs, such as the Hearers, by making Subhuti himself admit that the mind is liberated without abiding in anything. The division of the path and what is not the path into four aspects is the same as before. "Subhuti, whatever is the All-Knowingness," etc., shows the All-Knowingness. The so-called aspect of peace is the wisdom of the Thus-Gone One, abandoning all discriminations and complete discriminations, and transforming into the nature of the completely pure realm of Dharma, which is called the aspect of peace, because the true aspect of all Dharmas is also that, it is called All-Knowingness. "Subhuti, in this way, with what aspect and what manner," etc., shows the All-Knowingness in the conventional truth, which means that the characteristics of the self and the general characteristics of all Dharmas of the world and beyond the world are understood in all aspects without confusion, which is called All-Knowingness. The question, "O Blessed One, All-Knowingness," etc., is asked in order to open the occasion to show that there is no difference in liberation among the three wisdoms, All-Knowingness, Knowledge of the Aspects of the Path, and All-Knowingness, and that there is a difference in the non-abandonment of habitual tendencies. "Subhuti, there is no difference in abandoning afflictions," etc., means that although the abandonment of afflictions is the same in liberation, there is a difference between abandoning habitual tendencies and even completely abandoning them and not abandoning them, the Thus-Gone One.
