It shows that the designations of imputation, such as emptiness, are not found. Then, the Blessed One asked Subhuti, 'Subhuti, what do you think? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' a designation of form?' up to 'Is the term 'Bodhisattva' a designation of non-wishing consciousness?' The Blessed One asked Subhuti, 'Do you think that a Bodhisattva is a designation of form, etc.?' Subhuti realized that designations are not found in the ultimate sense, and replied, 'I do not think so.' 'Blessed One, if form is utterly non-existent and not found, how could a Bodhisattva be a designation of form?' up to 'Blessed One, if non-wishing is utterly non-existent and not found, how could a Bodhisattva be a designation of non-wishing consciousness?' Subhuti showed the reason why a Bodhisattva is not a real thing of designation in the ultimate sense, that is, the Bodhisattva itself does not exist in the ultimate sense, and form, etc., and their permanence and impermanence, etc., do not exist, and the designations established on them also exist. Since self-nature is not established in the ultimate sense, they will not become Bodhisattvas.' This is the meaning. The Blessed One said, 'Subhuti, well said! Well said! Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not focus on the designation of form, he does not focus on the designation of feeling,' up to 'One should train in the Perfection of Wisdom by not focusing on the designation of non-wishing consciousness.' It praises Subhuti's explanation of the reason for the absence of designation as satisfactory, summarizes the teaching of not focusing on designation, and shows that one should train in this way. Subhuti, what you said, 'I have not truly seen the Dharma called Bodhisattva,' etc., is the word of the Blessed One that Subhuti initially asked.

The Blessed One repeated and declared: "Arising from disputes about Bodhisattvas not being truly seen, not only are Bodhisattvas themselves unattainable in the ultimate truth, but also all phenomena of the world and beyond, are not truly seen in the ultimate truth. Thus, it is taught that all phenomena are unattainable. Among these, phenomena do not truly see the realm of phenomena, and the realm of phenomena does not truly see phenomena. This refers to the fact that 'phenomena' are the phenomena imputed in conventional truth. The 'realm of phenomena' refers to the nature of perfectly established phenomena, which in the ultimate truth, becomes one with the nature of emptiness of both the imputed and the perfectly established. Because there is no difference, one cannot see the other, which is what is being expressed. Subhuti, the realm of form does not truly see the realm of phenomena, and so on. This is to separate the phenomena of form, etc., one by one, thereby showing that all phenomena are unattainable. The 'realm of form' refers to the nature of imputed form. The 'realm of phenomena' refers to the nature of perfectly established form. The fact that the two cannot see each other is as previously explained. Just as with form, so too should feeling, etc., up to the realm of phenomena, be understood in the same way. Subhuti, the realm of conditioned phenomena does not truly see the realm of unconditioned phenomena, and the realm of unconditioned phenomena does not truly see the realm of conditioned phenomena. This refers to the fact that all phenomena, both conditioned and unconditioned, are gathered together, and in general, it is shown that they are unattainable. Both conditioned and unconditioned phenomena have no difference in nature in the ultimate truth, therefore one cannot see the other, as before. If it were not for the realm of conditioned phenomena, the realm of unconditioned phenomena could not be established. If it were not for the realm of unconditioned phenomena, the realm of conditioned phenomena could not be established. This refers to the fact that conditioned and unconditioned phenomena are one in the ultimate truth. Therefore, without the conditioned, one cannot separately establish the unconditioned, and without the unconditioned, one cannot separately establish the conditioned.
