Just as it is spoken by establishing names and terms, Bodhisattva and Prajñāpāramitā are also taught by merely establishing names and symbols. This is what is to be shown. Subhūti, for example, the name of the past Buddha Bhagavan is just a name, etc. This means that the name of the deceased Nirmāṇakāya and dreams, etc., are not established in either conventional or ultimate truth, but as an example of speaking in terms. Bodhisattva, etc., are spoken and taught as terms in conventional truth. Therefore, Subhūti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva practices Prajñāpāramitā in that way, he should learn to establish names and symbols, to establish teachings, and to establish Dharma. This means that although Bodhisattva, etc., are not established as real in ultimate truth, in order to fully ripen sentient beings in conventional truth, they are merely established as names and symbols, and learn the teachings. This is shown by concluding with meaning. Subhūti, a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who practices Prajñāpāramitā in that way does not see form as permanent, etc., as mentioned above. It teaches that all dharmas are merely established, and it teaches that the fruit of practice is abandoning all discriminations. Among them, not seeing form as permanent in a true and correct way. Not seeing form as impermanent in a true and correct way, and even not seeing form as unpeaceful in a true and correct way, means that non-Buddhists think that form is permanent, happy, has self, and is of an unpeaceful nature, and Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas think that form is impermanent, suffering, selfless, and peaceful. For those Bodhisattvas who practice Prajñāpāramitā and learn the teachings, such discriminations will not arise. Not seeing form as empty in a true and correct way, and even not seeing form as wishless in a true and correct way, means that

This is to explain that conceptualizations do not arise in the three doors of liberation and their opposing aspects. The Tirthikas think of form as not empty, with characteristics, and with aspirations. The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas think of form as empty, without characteristics, and as objects without aspirations. Bodhisattvas do not have such conceptualizations. From "That which is called form is not truly seen as conditioned" to "That which is called form is not truly seen as nirvana," this is to explain that Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have conceptualizations of dharmas as objects of antidotes and opposing aspects, while Bodhisattvas, who learn all dharmas as mere designations and abide in diligence, do not have these conceptualizations. When Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas separately conceptualize dharmas, their conceptualizations of opposing aspects are: form is conditioned, defiled, arising, unpeaceful, unwholesome, with faults, with outflows, with afflictions, worldly, and samsaric. Their separate conceptualizations of antidotal aspects are: unconditioned, purified, cessation, peaceful, wholesome, without faults, without outflows, without afflictions, transcendent, and nirvanic. Bodhisattvas, who learn and teach all dharmas as mere designations, do not have these conceptualizations. Just as with form, so too with feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, that is, the five aggregates, twelve sources, eighteen elements, and the contact arising from the aggregation of the elements, and the feeling arising from the condition of contact, the conceptualizations of opposing aspects and antidotal aspects arise in Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Bodhisattvas, who realize all dharmas as mere designations and teach those who abide in diligence, do not have these conceptualizations. Similarly, it is explained from "That which is called feeling is not truly seen as..." to "What is the reason for this?"

Furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Prajnaparamita, they do not truly see that the Prajnaparamita, the Bodhisattva, and the name of the Bodhisattva exist in the realm of conditioned phenomena. They do not truly see that they exist in the realm of unconditioned phenomena. This is how it is taught. Just as one does not generate conceptualizations of opposing sides and antidotal entities with respect to the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and other such phenomena, similarly, the Prajnaparamita, the Bodhisattva, and the name of the Bodhisattva are merely nominally designated as expressions and labels in conventional truth, and one is exhorted to strive. However, in ultimate truth, one does not generate conceptualizations of them existing in the realm of conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, or of existing in the nature of conditioned and unconditioned phenomena. That is the meaning. Subhuti, why is that? It is because when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Prajnaparamita, they do not conceptually discriminate or differentiate all those phenomena. From there up to: Subhuti, in that way, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Prajnaparamita, they should understand the designation of phenomena to be named and expressed. In that way, the reasoning for not generating conceptualizations is taught. The statement that they do not conceptually discriminate or differentiate all those phenomena means that with respect to the aggregates, elements, and other phenomena mentioned earlier, one does not conceptually discriminate opposing sides and antidotal entities, and there is no differentiation. That is the meaning. When they engage in the Prajnaparamita, they abide in the dharma of non-conceptualization, and engage in the Prajnaparamita in order to cultivate the mindfulnesses. This means that because that Bodhisattva does not truly see all phenomena in ultimate truth, they abide in the dharma of non-conceptualization. In order to ripen all sentient beings in conventional truth, they merely designate names and expressions. Therefore, they engage in the Prajnaparamita in order to cultivate the four mindfulnesses. That is the meaning.
