Thus it is said. Sharadvatiputra, this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, from abiding in the Bodhicitta, like the Vajra Samadhi, until Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva manifests the pure Buddha-eye of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, is to show the pure Buddha-eye of the Bodhisattva, that is, the one who has not become a Buddha, the Buddha-eye of the Bodhisattva, is because the Bodhisattva has fully practiced the ten Bhumis and obtained such Buddha-eye qualities, therefore it is called the Buddha-eye of the Bodhisattva. Sharadvatiputra, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, who desires to fully practice and obtain the five eyes, until the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices these five eyes, manifests unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, is to show that the Bodhisattva obtains these five eyes, also by practicing the six Paramitas. Why is that? And so on, it shows the reason that in the six Paramitas, all the good Dharmas such as the five eyes are gathered. Sharadvatiputra, if someone correctly declares and so on, it shows that among the six Paramitas, the Prajnaparamita is also the main one. Whoever says that all good Dharmas are gathered in the Prajnaparamita, that is the meaning of correctly declaring or truthfully declaring. Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices this Prajnaparamita, is able to obtain the Abhijna Paramita, until the one who perfects the six Abhijna, increases by unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, is to say the six Abhijna of the Bodhisattva. The Abhijna mentioned earlier is the Abhijna of the Tathagata, which is a brief display. At this time it is the Bodhisattva

The explanation of the direct knowledge of the Bodhisattvas, which is an extensive explanation. Sharadvatiputra, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, abiding in the Perfection of Giving, from "no coming" and "no going" being apprehended, and "no complete apprehension" being apprehended, one completely trains in the path of all-knowingness, up to the point of saying "is." Some Bodhisattvas, due to the differences in the levels of the ground being high or low, and the scope of practice being vast or small, also completely perfect all six perfections. There are also those who perfect one perfection, or two, three, and so on, this is what is being taught. "Transcending extremes, because of emptiness" refers to abandoning the two extremes of imputation and denigration. Because in the ultimate truth, one does not impute things as existing, and in the conventional truth, one does not denigrate them as non-existent. "By apprehending a mind without attachment" means that one does not regard the giver, the receiver, and the object of giving as real, and there is no attachment to them. In this way, without imputation or denigration, and by giving with the three spheres completely pure, one will completely train in the path of all-knowingness, and by combining it with "is," it means to completely purify the path to enlightenment. Similarly, the remaining perfections, such as morality, should also be combined accordingly. "Apprehending no coming and no going" means that because the "path of all-knowingness" has already been mentioned, in order to dispel the thought that there is a path, and that there is going and coming, it is said that there is "no coming" and "no going." All phenomena, when arising, do not come from anywhere, and when ceasing, do not go anywhere. In this way, realizing that there is no coming and no going is precisely the complete training of the path to enlightenment, this is what is being taught. Among them, giving is established from the apprehension of complete apprehension, up to the point where wisdom is established from the apprehension of wisdom's laxity. Regarding giving

English

The six perfections mentioned are not truly existent in reality. They are merely names conventionally established in opposition to their opposing aspects, such as generosity versus stinginess. Therefore, there is no self-satisfaction in thinking, "I have transcended." There is no self-satisfaction in thinking, "I have not transcended." This means that having abandoned the opposing aspects of generosity, such as stinginess, one does not think, "I am liberated from them." This is because stinginess and the like are not truly existent in reality. There is no self-satisfaction in thinking, "I am giving." There is no self-satisfaction in thinking, "I am not giving," and so on, up to "There is no self-satisfaction in thinking, 'Wisdom is flawed.'" This means that because the six perfections, such as generosity, and their opposing aspects, such as stinginess, are all without inherent existence, one does not cling to them. By "There is no self-satisfaction in being reproached," and so on, it is shown that one is not tainted by the eight worldly concerns. Why is that? Because Sharadvatiputra does not feel self-satisfied when reproached, and so on, which demonstrates the reason: the object of reproach, the act of reproach, and the entity of reproach are all unborn in reality, so one does not think in that way. Why is that? Because the Perfection of Wisdom completely cuts off all self-satisfaction. This means that the Perfection of Wisdom has the function of cutting off all self-satisfaction, so a Bodhisattva who is reproached does not have such self-satisfaction. Here, the qualities that Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, possesses when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom are not present in all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. This means that the qualities of a Bodhisattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, such as completely maturing sentient beings and completely purifying Buddha-fields, which will be explained later, are not present in Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas.
