A Bodhisattva, knowing and distinctly understanding all the sounds and languages of all beings in hell, animals, hungry ghosts, gods, humans, and Brahma, is truly knowing sounds as they are. Everything is combined with "abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom," and it should be known that one meditates in a way that is without focus. The so-called "perfectly complete concentration with conceptualization and examination" and so on, refers to the practice of the four dhyanas of the form realm. These four dhyanas should also be realized as without focus in the ultimate truth, while in the conventional truth, they are practiced with skillful means for the benefit of sentient beings. Among them, the first dhyana has conceptualization and examination. The second dhyana has no conceptualization, only examination. The third and fourth dhyanas have neither conceptualization nor examination, which will be explained in detail later. The so-called "perfectly complete faculty of not fully knowing what should be fully known" and so on, refers to the explanation of the three uncontaminated faculties. On the path of seeing, the faculty of truly not fully knowing what should be known arises. On the path of meditation, the faculty of complete knowledge arises. On the path of no more learning, the state of an Arhat, the faculty of complete knowledge and wisdom arises. Because one can attain uncontaminated Dharma by means of these faculties, they are called faculties. The so-called "perfectly complete mastery over the spheres" refers to, in order to tame and make the mind workable, for all forms, not valuing external objects such as good or bad, large or small, but rather being controlled by one's own mind, knowing and viewing as one pleases. What are these eight spheres of mastery? With the perception of internal form, one looks at the small external forms, whether they are good colors or bad colors, and masters these forms and knows them, masters these forms and sees them. When such a perception arises, this is the first sphere of mastery. With the perception of no internal form, one looks at the large external forms, whether they are good colors

And looking at those unpleasant colors, knowing those forms by overpowering them, seeing them by overpowering them, this kind of arising of perception is the second source of mastery by overcoming. Perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external blue forms, blue color, appearing as blue, and things that emit blue light, for example, a flax flower, or a fine Varanasi (Vārāṇasī) silk that is blue, blue in color, appearing as blue, and emitting blue light, similarly, perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external blue forms, blue color, appearing as blue, and things that emit blue light, this is the third source of mastery by overcoming. Perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external yellow forms, yellow color, appearing as yellow, and things that emit yellow light, for example, a dongga flower, or a fine Varanasi (Vārāṇasī) silk that is yellow, yellow in color, appearing as yellow, and emitting yellow light, similarly, perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external yellow forms, yellow color, appearing as yellow, and things that emit yellow light, this is the fourth source of mastery by overcoming. Perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external red forms, red color, appearing as red, and things that emit red light, for example, a bandhujiva flower, or a fine Varanasi (Vārāṇasī) silk that is red, red in color, appearing as red, and emitting red light, similarly, perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external red forms, red color, appearing as red, and things that emit red light, this is the fifth source of mastery by overcoming. Perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external white forms, white color, appearing as white, and things that emit white light, for example, white like the color of the star Pavasa, white color, appearing as white, and emitting white light, similarly, perceiving that there is no form within, looking at external white forms, white color, appearing as white, and emitting white light

This contemplation is the sixth overcoming source. It completely transcends the perception of form, the perceptions of resistance are extinguished, and without attending to various perceptions, thinking 'space is infinite,' having perfected the source of infinite space, abiding in this is the seventh overcoming source. It completely transcends the source of infinite space, thinking 'consciousness is infinite,' having perfected the source of infinite consciousness, abiding in this is the eighth overcoming source. To perfect the source of enlightenment is to tame the mind and make it serviceable. In all ten directions, whether it be earth, water, fire, wind, blue, yellow, red, white, space, or consciousness, one should contemplate and meditate on the samadhi that fills the mind with enlightenment. To perfect the four objects of gathering is to ripen sentient beings, and by means of the four methods of generosity, sweet words, beneficial conduct, and concordant actions, to completely gather all sentient beings and place them on the right path. To perfect the four establishments is to establish the Dharma, establish the truth, establish the reasoning, and establish the vehicle. Among these, establishing the Dharma is to name and establish the Sutra Pitaka, the Udanas, and so forth, for the benefit of sentient beings. Establishing the truth is to name and establish the four truths of ultimate truth and conventional truth for the benefit of sentient beings. Establishing the reasoning is to establish the reasoning of dependence, the reasoning of action, the reasoning of proof, and the reasoning of the nature of things. Establishing the vehicle is to distinguish, name, and establish the vehicles of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas. To perfect the ten bhumis is to
