Remaining in this, it is said that one can perfect all the dharmas that are conducive to enlightenment. To perfect the samadhi of emptiness means that it is in accordance with the practice of the three doors of liberation and the factors of enlightenment, and it is counted among the factors of enlightenment because it leads to the attainment of nirvana. Here, it belongs to the context of the Bodhisattva, so three samadhis are mentioned. Among them, the characteristic of the perfection of the so-called samadhi of emptiness is: empty of the nature of complete imputation, empty of the appearance of complete imputation, thus cultivating the aspect of emptiness, the state of mind being one-pointed is called the samadhi of emptiness. The inexpressible ultimate truth, like the sky, is separated from all characteristics such as form, has no characteristic of signs, and all elaborations are pacified, so cultivating the aspect of peace, the state of mind being one-pointed is called the samadhi of signlessness. Similarly, seeing the three realms as the nature of non-existence, establishing a perception of incongruity for all dharmas, and then not making it a place of desire, but truly following the observation, the state of mind being one-pointed is called the samadhi of wishlessness. Thus, having shown the practice of the factors of enlightenment without afflictions, in order to show the practice of maturing sentient beings without interruption, it is said, "In order not to think about meditation, one should perfect the four meditations," and so on. The matter of maturing sentient beings must also be done with the worldly and transmundane aspects of meditation and samadhi, as well as the aspects of supernormal knowledge and the aspects of wisdom. Therefore, all three categories of dharmas are gathered there. Regarding this, all the dharmas such as meditation are first held in conventional terms in order to benefit sentient beings, and then, if one truly observes in ultimate terms, one does not appear to be attached to the nature of meditation, etc., but with compassion and skillful means, one again focuses on conventional terms to benefit sentient beings.

Thus are established the practices that fully ripen sentient beings. Among these, the four dhyanas are the first dhyana of the form realm, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana. Among these dhyanas, the first dhyana has both investigation and analysis. The second dhyana is without investigation but has only analysis. The third and fourth dhyanas both lack investigation and analysis. These dhyanas are meditated upon by worldly people with attachment to self. Hearers and solitary realizers meditate after realizing the absence of self in the individual. Bodhisattvas meditate after realizing the absence of self in both phenomena and individuals. However, in ultimate terms, dhyana has no object of focus, but in conventional terms, due to the power of great compassion and skillful means, they meditate according to their respective characteristics. The statement "one should perfect the four immeasurables" refers to loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Bodhisattvas also meditate on these four in three ways. What are the three? They meditate by focusing on sentient beings, by focusing on phenomena, and by not focusing on anything. The statement "one should perfect the four formless absorptions" refers to the sphere of limitless space, the sphere of limitless consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. The statement "one should perfect the eight liberations" refers to seeing forms as having form, perceiving the absence of form internally and seeing forms externally, being devoted to the beautiful aspect, and the four beginning with the sphere of limitless space, and meditating on the samadhi of cessation of perception and feeling, these are the eight. The statement "one should perfect the nine successive abidings" refers to the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the samadhi of cessation of perception and feeling, these are the nine. The statement "one should perfect the five superknowledges" refers to the divine eye, the divine ear, knowing the minds of others, knowing magical transformations, and remembering past lives. One should meditate on the ten perceptions, namely:
