Or, after praying like this, flowers were scattered. The Blessed One took the flowers and scattered them towards the east. All those realms of the eastern world were covered with lotus flowers, and on those flowers resided many bodies of the Tathagatas, teaching the Dharma of the six perfections. Whichever sentient beings heard that Dharma, all of them attained the unsurpassed Bodhi. Bodhisattvas, whether householders or renunciates, or in the form of young boys and girls, made offerings with their respective roots of virtue, and then gathered in one direction. Similarly, flowers were scattered in other directions as well. At that time, at that moment, the ground became the nature of precious jewels. Various kinds of scattered flowers, silk brocades, fragrant trees, and wish-fulfilling trees, with their tops laden with all sorts of things, like the pure land of Bodhisattvas, great Bodhisattvas, where flowers bloom everywhere, the place where the noble Manjushri, the youth, resides, or the world of lotus flowers, like the place where the son of the gods, the exceedingly steadfast one, resides. Those who possess true realization are the all-knowing ones, I prostrate to those three mothers. This is also the extensive explanation of the foundation, the collection of teachings, and the creation of verses containing praise. This is the end of the first chapter, the chapter of the beginning. The beginning of the cause of the arising of the Sutra, the Jewel of Qualities, is divided into two parts: the Teacher initiates the beginning, and the retinue initiates the beginning. The Teacher initiates the beginning: At that time, the Blessed One, knowing that gods, demons, practitioners, Brahmins, and many Bodhisattvas who had become youths had gathered in this three-thousandfold great thousand world, then spoke to the venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who wishes to manifestly and completely awaken to all dharmas in all aspects should train in the Prajnaparamita. The retinue initiates the beginning: The essential meaning of the Sutra is taught in the intervals of the text. The necessary connection is: The path of all-knowingness, whatever action the Teacher has spoken of with this, is not something that others can experience, because it will be seen by those who possess intelligence. Having placed the nature of the ten practices of Dharma, the essential meaning of the Sutra, in remembrance, easily

"Becoming the cause of understanding is the necessity of undertaking activities." Thus it is said, omniscience itself is the necessity of necessity. What is explained is the Prajñāpāramitā. The necessity is to understand what is explained. The relationship is the means and what arises from the means. The necessity of realization is to make it a means for the noble Asanga and others to easily understand that meaning. Following is divided into two: the establishment of the essence and the extensive explanation of the branches. The establishment of the essence is that this great mother has one hundred thousand verses, three hundred chapters, one hundred and twenty questions, eleven categories, one hundred and eight commentary lines, three hundred and sixty commentary words, five ways of teaching, teaching divided into: scripture, individual practice, and the nature of reality. Briefly explained in eight topics, extensively explained in seventy small topics, and very extensively explained by dividing into specific sections of the treatises. Condensation is divided into two: condensation of the location with six, and condensation of the root with three. The eight topics are: In the Prajñāpāramitā, it is truly explained by eight things. Omniscience, path knowledge, then all knowledge. All-aspect complete enlightenment, reaching the peak and gradual, one instant complete enlightenment, the Dharmakāya and those eight. Thus it is said. Among them, there are four types of view and meditation: Realizing that phenomena of suchness and all that exists are without inherent existence is the unborn type. Realizing that all the paths of noble individuals are without inherent existence is the unborn path. Knowing that the basis, aggregates, elements, etc., are without inherent existence from the beginning is the unborn basis. Deciding by cutting off the three attachments of clinging to the basis of those three as real, clinging to the path as mind itself, and hoping for the result of omniscience. Meditation is divided into two: Fully meditating on those three in one session is all-aspect complete enlightenment. Meditating on realizing that itself from arising without needing effort is the peak realization. Conduct is divided into two: The six perfections arising gradually is gradual, meditating inseparably, the six perfections being completed at once is one instant.
