With the nature of great compassion, relying on the similar power of the cause of the realm of Dharma, the Tathagata considers that it should be shown to the childlike beings that it can extremely produce great fruit. Again, someone asks, with the characteristic of emptiness, what else can be taken as the excellence of practice? To eliminate this doubt, it is said: In the unspeakable of things, decline and non-increase are impossible. With the path called practice, what declines and what is obtained? This is the meaning (of the text). Because, with the selflessness of the nature of the path of Dharma, it is true that in the unspeakable as that, as different, as both, and as non-both, it is impossible to have inconsistency and the side of antagonism, and arising. Therefore, with the characteristic of the unspeakable, with the path called practice, what is the nature of abandoning the side of inconsistency, and what is the nature of obtaining purity? If it is said that merely by doing nothing, the excellent practice cannot be completed, then the answer to this is: Like Bodhi, this accomplishes the desired meaning. Bodhi is the characteristic of suchness, and it is also the characteristic of that. This is the meaning (of the text). Just as the unsurpassed Bodhi with the characteristic of suchness, nothing can make it different, only with the door of generating the mind that previously manifested the special meaning, as the master of Dharmakaya and so on, in order to conform to the merits and wisdom of those who should be tamed, it manifests and accomplishes the desired meaning, similarly, with the characteristic of suchness, this path, through practice, in the way of being free from sudden defilements, in the mundane, accomplishes the meaning of decline and increase of the inconsistent side and the antidote. But in the ultimate sense, it is considered to be the negation of decline and increase. Someone asks, Bodhi itself should not accomplish the meaning of the cause, to eliminate this doubt, it is said: The mind is not enlightened by the former, nor by the latter. This is the meaning (of the text). If it is said that enlightenment is manifested through the generation of a special mind, then the former of generating the mind is unreasonable, because as that kind of fruit, accomplishing completeness is unreasonable. The latter is also unreasonable, because all its power depends on the ultimate of the former.

If it were not so, it would be impossible. Similarly, even if there are many things that occur in succession, they do not have any connection with each other because they are destroyed immediately after they occur and there is no continuation. If someone thinks like that, then the answer is: By way of the example of a lamp, there are eight profound dharmas. Just as the flame of a lamp burns, the second moment does not depend on the first moment, and the first moment cannot burn the wick. Similarly, the second moment does not depend on the first moment. Similarly, even if there are many things that occur in succession without any connection, it is not possible to accomplish the burning of what is to be burned. However, merely by means of this condition, relying on the law of dependent origination, the first moment and so on, through the way of generating the difference in the essence of the cause of burning the second moment and so on, just as the wick is burned, by the characteristic of manifesting special meaning, the generation of bodhicitta is also not from the previous and subsequent individual moments, nor from many obvious connections. However, by virtue of the nature of continuous connection, the power becomes extremely perfect, and through clearly and completely manifesting what should be abandoned and the dharma of the other side, one is able to attain enlightenment. The summary of the meaning is: Therefore, if one analyzes, even if one cannot ascertain generation and so on, in the state of unanalyzed joy, generation and so on are possible, and these are the eight profound dharmas. If one asks which are the eight profound dharmas, the answer is: It is proclaimed that there is profundity in the eight objects such as birth. Namely: birth and cessation, suchness and knowable, knowledge and conduct and non-duality, and the profundity of skillful means. As mentioned earlier, even if it is not through the previous and subsequent moments, nor through the lack of inherent existence, but through practice, one can generate the meaning of excellent realization, and this is the profundity of dependent origination of birth. All things are inherently empty and cease from the very beginning of their arising, and this is the profundity of cessation. Even if one is accustomed to it in all states, it will not manifest, and this is the profundity of suchness. Knowing its true nature, all knowable dharmas, generosity and so on
