The term is "not generating joy." The reason for saying "this is said to be a solitary place" is because it is solitary due to not being attached to samsara and peace. Other than that, even if one dwells in a very solitary place, it is only dwelling among ghosts. Therefore, it is said, "whoever" and so on. "This" refers to the solitary place just mentioned. To show the realm of excessive pride, it is said, "Bodhisattva for the benefit of beings" and so on. "There" refers to the Bodhisattva who practices in the city. "Contempt" means to offer specially. How is it contemptuous? It is said, "This is a solitary place" and so on. Therefore, among the two practices in the city and in solitude, the solitary place mentioned earlier is the most excellent, so it is said, "whoever in the city" and so on. To show the great nature of this, it is said, "Bodhisattva is displeased" and so on. Whichever Bodhisattva is displeased and contemptuous of such a solitary place, that is because relying on other solitary places, one will only decline and be destroyed. It is just exhausting the body in vain without any result. The sign of relying on a noble spiritual friend is that, like a sick person relying on a doctor, one destroys arrogance and, without being weary, respectfully serves the virtuous spiritual friend. Therefore, it is said, "therefore" and so on. "For healing" means for healing, just as a crowd of sick people respectfully serve a doctor, one should rely on a virtuous spiritual friend. Then, who should one rely on? It is said, "Buddha" and so on. Whoever are the Buddhas, whoever are the Bodhisattvas, and whoever are the six perfections, those are the virtuous spiritual friends. Why? It is said, "They are the guides" and so on. "They" refers to the Buddhas and so on. "This" refers to the characteristics of the six perfections. "By two causes" means by the meaning of the two causes of guiding and the characteristic of one's own practice.

Therefore, the sign of diligence in sublime wisdom is that all Sugatas have the same path, precisely because they are diligent only in the perfection of wisdom. "Victors who have passed away" and so on are mentioned. "Clear" means to make clear, because it is in terms of all-knowingness. "Lamp" is because it arises from the cause of knowing the path. "Light" is because it fully manifests in the nature of all-knowingness. "Supreme teacher" is because it cuts off afflictions and protects other Bodhisattvas. The sign of realizing that all dharmas are without difference is because the nature of all dharmas is completely determined as having the characteristic of the perfection of wisdom. "How" and so on will appear, "emptiness of characteristics" is in the aspect of grasping and so on. "All these dharmas" are form and so on. "Knowing the characteristics to be the same as that" is, as it is, devoid of the aspects of grasping and so on. In order to make it clearer, "emptiness" and so on are mentioned. It is said thus: Hidden is not grasping itself, because not understanding one's own function, it is not fully established as grasping. Not understanding one's own nature is not the object of the term of existence, because if it were, it would become the nature of everything and exist in everything. It is also not completely established by means of cutting off the object, because the connection between the hidden nature and the cognition of the object is not established. If it does not exist, it will not arise, then the non-existence that is completely established is not the object of any characteristic either, because it would be too general. If it is said that there is no grasping, then one's own material nature should not cut off the object, it is not so, because it is impossible without understanding those subsequent connections. The material nature of the object does not abandon its own nature, so even if there is grasping, how will it be known? However, if its nature disappears, then only the nature that one knows oneself will arise, therefore its aspect
