Because if it were not so, it would not be valid as a teacher. Merely realizing the absence of a self of a person would not lead to faith in this kind of Dharma, therefore, saying that it is blessed by the Thus-Gone One is the remainder of the sentence. The arising of the determination of the all-knowing will not occur without special paths and so on. Therefore, in order to show the arising of the determination of the path after that, what is said is: "Endowed with life, Subhuti, well done! Well done!" and so on. "Subhuti, well done! Well done!" is because the meaning is well spoken. However, what is it that will realize enlightenment, this perfection of wisdom that does not abide in all dharmas? In order to show its own essence, it is Shariputra and so on. The very essence of all dharmas of the ground, the perfection of wisdom, and the aspects of enlightenment, by the perfection of wisdom that is the characteristic of the path itself, because it does not rely on all dharmas, it is said to be the perfection of wisdom that does not abide in all dharmas. All vehicles are included in the three vehicles. If so, who will definitely arise in such a perfection of wisdom that is the nature of the path? Therefore, it is said, "Thus," and so on. "Thus" is in the order of what was just said. A shrinking mind is a contracted mind. That is what is said by "dejected," and so on. To become dejected is to become doubtful wisdom, because one wonders, "Is this it? Is it something else?" and desires another path. Ignorance is not knowing, not realizing its own essence. The mind becoming something else is wrong knowledge, wrong discrimination. All of this is ignorance, therefore it is shown that it should be subdued by cultivation. Abiding by abiding in this way is because by abiding in the perfection of wisdom that is the nature of the path, one perfects the very ability of the mind through the four doors of deportment. Not separated from this attention! This is in the state of truly establishing the nature of the path. Attention is the effort of the mind towards the object.

Isn't it a practitioner who clings to the object of attention? To abide in the Prajnaparamita is of the opposite nature to that, how could these two coexist? This is said with the thought that, the venerable Subhuti and so on. How can one who abides by abiding in the Prajnaparamita not be separated from attention? Because they are mutually contradictory, it is not possible. This is the concluding remark. In order to show that point, it is said, the venerable Subhuti, if and so on. If one is not separated from attention, then at that time one is separated from the Prajnaparamita. However, if one is not separated from abiding in the Prajnaparamita, then at that time one is separated from attention. However, if one wants to have contradictory things abide together on one thing, then at that time it will be too extreme. It is said, the venerable Subhuti, if and so on. If, in the stage of ascertainment of the path, even if one is not separated from attention, one still wants to be not separated from the Prajnaparamita, if that is the case, then all sentient beings will not be separated from abiding in the Prajnaparamita, because they all have attention. Isn't abiding in the Prajnaparamita something to be accomplished with many efforts? So, why would there be a doubt that all sentient beings are not separated from it? After welcoming with "why," it is said, all sentient beings and so on. Attention and, here it is not contradictory. This is the remainder. Thinking like this, even if one is already not separated from the Prajnaparamita, but because there is a reversed attention that contradicts it, it is not a distinction for all sentient beings. Also, when you do not admit that the two exist simultaneously as contradictory in the stage of ascertainment of the path, occasional contradiction is unreasonable. Because all sentient beings are not separated from non-contradictory attention, therefore, it will be too extreme to be not separated from the Prajnaparamita. This is what is thought. Attention, literally.

If it is said that this will become a fault, then it is said: Shariputra, good, good! And so on. However, it is desired to show that non-attention itself is attention. Moreover, if one seeks fault merely by the use of words, then at that time you also have a fault. And so on. Because the venerable Shariputra truly expressed in words the meaning of the nature of attention, therefore, since one completely clings to the meaning expressed as it is in the words, therefore, for this kind of later speech, you will also be asked in return. This shows that if one clings to the meaning of the words as they are in the words, it will become the same fault. Also, how is it that non-attention itself is attention? Why is there a doubt that it is not as it is in the words? Having welcomed with such a question, it is then said: Venerable Shariputra, sentient beings, and so on. The so-called sentient beings, these living beings, are without self-nature because they are like illusions. For this reason, since it is not different from it, therefore, attention itself is without self-nature. Sentient beings are non-existent in themselves, sentient beings are non-things. Sentient beings, in themselves, are devoid of non-birth and so on, that is, sentient beings are devoid. Sentient beings are beyond thought, that is, sentient beings are inconceivable. Sentient beings have no discrimination, that is, sentient beings are fully enlightened. Sentient beings are not true, they are false, enlightenment is, sentient beings are not truly enlightened. These six words should be understood in order in the four parts of the decisive division and in the stages of the path of seeing and meditation. Thus, in order to say through wisdom that non-attention itself is attention, and then to conclude, it is said: Venerable Shariputra, and so on. The Bodhisattva is of such a nature, with the attention of the nature just spoken of and with the nature of the Perfection of Wisdom, abides by the abiding of the nature of decisive division by the path.
