Some encourage great loving-kindness, some great compassion, and some correctly encourage the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. Some encourage the complete accomplishment of the thirty-two marks of a great being. Some encourage the eighty minor marks. Some encourage the fruit of stream-entry, some the fruit of once-returner, some the fruit of non-returner, some arhatship itself, and some solitary enlightenment. Some encourage enlightenment, some the knowledge of the aspects of the path, and some even the knowledge of all aspects. Subhuti, thus, when a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he completely gives away material generosity to sentient beings and, with skillful means, establishes them in unsurpassed bliss. Subhuti, this is a wondrous and amazing dharma of a bodhisattva mahasattva. Subhuti, how does a bodhisattva mahasattva, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, gather sentient beings through the generosity of dharma? Subhuti, these two are the generosity of dharma: the worldly and the transcendent. Subhuti, what is the worldly generosity of dharma? It is the expression, explanation, and unerring indication of worldly dharmas, such as the aspect of impurity, the four dhyanas, the four brahmaviharas, the four formless absorptions, the five superknowledges, and other worldly dharmas that are common to ordinary beings. Subhuti, that is the worldly generosity of dharma. Subhuti, having abandoned that worldly generosity of dharma, the bodhisattva mahasattva, in many ways, unerringly takes up the worldly dharmas, and having set out from that, having set out from those, with skillful means, he thoroughly establishes sentient beings in the noble dharmas and the fruits of the noble dharmas. What are the noble dharmas? What are the fruits of the noble dharmas? The so-called noble dharmas are the thirty
