Without completely maturing all sentient beings, and without fully accomplishing the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks of a great being, one cannot attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The Blessed One declared: Subhuti, it is just so, it is just so, just as you have said. Without perfecting the six perfections, the fourteen emptinesses, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the three doors of liberation, and all the meditations, liberations, samadhis, and attainments, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love and great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. Without perfecting the ten bhumis of a Bodhisattva, without abiding in the five supernormal cognitions, without entering the Bodhisattva path without fault, without completely purifying the Buddha-field, without completely maturing all sentient beings, and without fully accomplishing the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks of a great being, one cannot attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva has perfected the six perfections, all the emptinesses, the four mindfulnesses, up to the eightfold noble path, and the three doors of liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, all the meditations, liberations, samadhis, and attainments, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love and great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, has perfected the ten bhumis of a Bodhisattva, abides in the five supernormal cognitions, has entered the Bodhisattva path without fault, has completely purified the Buddha-field, has completely matured all sentient beings, has fully accomplished the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks of a great being, and the nature of non-regression.

Therefore, by always acting in an equanimous manner, one will completely accomplish and attain all-knowingness. Subhuti, this also abides in the nature of form, the nature of feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, and abides in the nature up to unexcelled perfect enlightenment. Bodhisattva-mahasattvas awaken to unexcelled perfect enlightenment. That nature is also pacified; there is no dharma that increases, decreases, arises, ceases, is defiled, is purified, is attained, or is realized. This is the activity of establishing in the non-dual dharma. Furthermore, Subhuti, bodhisattva-mahasattvas rely on the dharmas designated by worldly conventions to awaken to unexcelled perfect enlightenment, but in ultimate terms, there is no form, feeling, perception, formations, consciousness, sense bases, elements, dependent arising, perfections, all emptinesses, factors of enlightenment, noble truths, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, formless absorptions, liberations, successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, superknowledges, samadhis, dharani gates, powers of the tathagatas, fearlessnesses, distinct awarenesses, great love, great compassion, unshared qualities of the buddhas, or anything in between unexcelled perfect enlightenment, or any dharma that leads to enlightenment, because all these dharmas are designated by relying on worldly conventions, and are not ultimate. Therefore, from the moment bodhisattva-mahasattvas generate the first thought, even when they engage in enlightenment, they do not focus on those thoughts, nor do they focus on sentient beings, enlightenment, buddhas, or bodhisattvas.

What do you think? When, Subhuti, you obtain the faculties in order to abandon the view of the assembly of destruction, and the uninterrupted samadhi, and obtain the fruit of entering the stream, or the fruit of once returning, or the fruit of not returning, or obtain the state of an Arhat, at that time, in dream, or in mind, or in path, or in fruit, is there a designated object? He replied: Blessed One, it is not so. The Blessed One said: Then how, Subhuti, do you, the elder named Subhuti, designate the attainment of Arhatship? He replied: Blessed One, it is based on worldly conventions. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, likewise, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is also designated by worldly conventions. Form is also designated by worldly conventions. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are also designated by worldly conventions. The sense bases, the elements, and dependent origination are also designated by worldly conventions. The perfections, all emptiness, and the dharmas of the path to enlightenment are also designated by worldly conventions. The noble truths, meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, liberation, the gradual abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, samadhi, and the doors of dharani are also designated by worldly conventions. The powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the fourfold perfect knowledge, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are also designated by worldly conventions. Even up to all-knowingness is designated by worldly conventions. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not perceive any dharma as increasing, decreasing, benefiting, or harming. Since he does not perceive any such thing, and since he clings to the nature of dharma, he does not cling to the nature of the dharmas. Then, the first generation of mind
