Having attained it, one will attend to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Going from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, one also brings beings to complete maturity. One completely takes hold of the Buddha-field. Even though he revolves in the cycle of the five destinies, he will not be stained by the ripening of the karma of cyclic existence. For example, an emanation performs going, coming, staying, sitting, or sleeping, but going, coming, staying, sitting, or sleeping is not ascertained in it. He also does the benefit of beings. Beings and the imputation of beings are also not ascertained. Chapter Sixty-Five. Subhuti, for example, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, called the Utterly Peaceful One, having manifestly awakened into unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, turns the wheel of Dharma, and countless beings are completely liberated from suffering by the two vehicles, but not seeing any Bodhisattva to be predicted to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, he abandons the formation of life and performs emanation after emanation, and is completely liberated from suffering in the sphere of nirvana without remainder of aggregates. Subhuti, in that way, after that emanation has passed one kalpa, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is predicted to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment and has become completely liberated from suffering. The form of that one who has become completely liberated from suffering, or feeling, or perception, or formation, or consciousness, or any entity is not ascertained. Subhuti, likewise, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva also does not ascertain beings or the imputation of beings, but he also does the benefit of beings. Subhuti, in that way, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Perfection of Wisdom, he completely perfects the Perfection of Moral Discipline that is without characteristics. Through that complete perfection, he knows and comprehends all phenomena that are without characteristics. Subhuti, furthermore, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Perfection of Wisdom, he abides in the five aggregates of appropriation that are like a dream

Like an echo, like an optical illusion, like a magic trick, like a mirage, like an emanation, abiding in the five aggregates of grasping, one perfects the Perfection of Patience that is without characteristics. Subhuti asked: "World Honored One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the five aggregates of grasping that are without characteristics, perfect the Perfection of Patience?" The World Honored One replied: "Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva perfects the Perfection of Patience through two kinds of patience. What are the two? They are the Patience of Practice and the Patience of Understanding the Dharma. What is the Patience of Practice? From the arising of the first thought until abiding under the Bodhi tree, if all sentient beings repeatedly come before a Bodhisattva Mahasattva and revile or speak unpleasant words, uttering countless harsh words, or strike or attack with stones, sticks, and weapons, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, desiring to perfect the Perfection of Patience, should not generate even a little disturbed mind or a mind of hatred. Instead, towards those sentient beings, one should say, 'Alas, these sentient beings are tormented by the disease of afflictions. I will not generate a mind of anger towards them. This is because I myself have taken these aggregates that have become enemies.' One should generate even greater compassion towards them. Being endowed with love and becoming compassionate, understanding in this way, this is called the Patience of Practice. What is the Patience of Understanding the Dharma? Those sentient beings are also without an object of focus in ultimate truth. There is something like reviling me, or speaking unpleasant words, or uttering countless harsh words, or striking with stones and sticks, or stabbing with weapons. All conditioned phenomena are like illusions, like magic, empty and unreliable, like the sky. They are devoid of self, sentient beings, life, nourishment, sustenance, individuals, persons, strength, and the possessor of strength. Those discriminations

If all things arise from conceptualization, then, if someone insults me, speaks unpleasant words, says unbearable harsh words, and beats me with stones and sticks and stabs me with weapons, I should adhere to the emptiness of intrinsic nature and the emptiness of ultimate truth, and not make such distinctions. This is called the forbearance of understanding the Dharma. Thus, fully and truly distinguishing and perfecting the perfection of forbearance, one obtains the forbearance of non-arising Dharma by perfecting the perfection of forbearance. Subhuti asked: World Honored One, what is called obtaining the forbearance of non-arising Dharma? What is abandoned in it? What is wisdom? The World Honored One taught: Subhuti, whatever Dharma has no arising, not even a particle, that is non-arising. Whoever knows it, that is called forbearance. By knowing it, one obtains the forbearance of non-arising Dharma. Asked: World Honored One, what is the forbearance of non-arising Dharma of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and what is the forbearance of non-arising Dharma of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas? What is the difference between these forbearances? The World Honored One taught: Subhuti, whatever is the wisdom of the stream-enterer, and whatever is abandoned, that is the forbearance of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Whatever is the wisdom of the once-returner, and whatever is abandoned, that is the forbearance of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Whatever is the wisdom of the non-returner, and whatever is abandoned, that is the forbearance of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Whatever is the wisdom of the Arhat, and whatever is abandoned, that is the forbearance of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Whatever is the wisdom of the Pratyekabuddha, and whatever is abandoned, that is the forbearance of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Subhuti, that is the difference between the forbearance of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and the forbearance of the Bodhisattva. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, possessing such forbearance, overcomes all those Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, they
